ACCRINGTON Stanley chief executive Rob Heys has revealed that admission prices will be reduced for the club's re-arranged League Two match against Brentford as a "goodwill gesture".

Last Saturday's postponed fixture against the Bees was called off just an hour before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch, prompting fury from many of Brentford's 900 travelling fans.

Brentford have since complained to the Football League about Accrington's "unacceptable" handling of the fixture.

But Heys has re-iterated Stanley's stance on the situation, insisting the Fraser Eagle Stadium pitch was playable after getting the go-ahead from a Football League-appointed official on Saturday morning.

Both clubs are currently working on a suitable date for the re-arranged game, and Heys said prices will be reduced.

"I'm not sure what the pricing will be, but there will be reduced prices for home and away fans as a goodwill gesture," said the Reds chief executive.

"It's important to remember that it was not just Brentford supporters that were disappointed.

"We had supporters coming from Ireland, Scotland and South Wales, plus an Accrington fan came all the way from Milan for the game."

Heys added: "We did not want to mislead anybody.

"There was no doubt in our mind that the game would go ahead.

"But we sympathise with everybody that travelled all that way."
