ACCRINGTON Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell has revealed that the club are hopeful of signing two defenders during the January transfer window.
After breaking their club record fee for attacking midfielder Ian Craney, and securing the future of leading scorer Paul Mullin, the Reds are now determined to bolster their defence.
A centre-back and left-back are Stanley's leading priorities, and Bell insists Stanley are hopeful of making at least one new signing before Saturday's League Two trip to Stockport County.
"We are looking at bringing in two defenders," said Bell. "That's where we are looking at strengthening.
"Our defence has been up and down all season. If we had avoided all of our silly mistakes this season, we could be sitting in third instead of 13th."
