ACCRINGTON Stanley striker Paul Mullin has been the subject of a £75,000, the Lancashire Telegraph can reveal.

The bid is thought to have come from League Two rivals Shrewsbury Town, who are looking to recruit Stanley's record appearance-maker to beef up their attack.

Sources close to the Shropshire club say that Shrews boss Gary Peters is known to be a fan of the Stanley hitman and is keen to add more firepower to boost his side's chance of promotion.

The 33-year-old striker, Stanley's top-scorer this season with 11 goals in all competitions, is out of contract at the end of the season but is set for talks about a new deal.

Stanley's chief executive Rob Heys added: "We've had interest in Paul from various clubs over the years, and we've informed Paul of the offer we've had, but we're hoping he will stay with us.

"He's done so in the past but we have talks for a new contract scheduled with Paul and we're hoping he remains committed to us.

"He's a key member of the squad and a very good player."
