ACCRINGTON STANLEY midfielder Rommy Boco has been doing extra sessions in the gym in a bid to improve his fitness.

And he is hoping the added strength he has developed will help him this Saturday as he plays the most important game of his career so far.

The 21-year-old Benin international revealed he has been attending the gym on his days off from training as he tries to find the steel needed for Stanley to stay in League Two.

He said: "Often we have a day off during the week, so I usually go along to the gym.

"I go to get stronger. I'm not too big, but I want to get bigger and I want to be the best and the fittest that I can.

"It was very hard for me to get fit quickly after being injured, but I have worked hard and I have felt good for the last five or six games."

With the fat lady about to tune up her vocal chords, Boco and his team-mates know there is no margin for error as the season reaches a dramatic climax.

Defeat on Saturday against fellow strugglers Macclesfield, in their final home game of the season, would make it very difficult for the Reds to avoid the drop And the last thing they want is for their destiny to be decided by a tough away match at MK Dons on the last day of the season.

But Boco was hoping to ease their relegation fears and give the home fans something to shout about at the Fraser Eagle Stadium on Saturday.

He said: "We have got to think of ourselves on Saturday first of all. We have got to win our game against Macclesfield.

"We've won our last four games at home, but this will be the biggest of them all. It's the biggest game that I've ever played in.

"They will be giving their maximum because they also need the points to stay up, but we will be giving everything we can because the result is so important.

"For the club and everyone, we need to win. We don't want to go back down into the Conference again."
