DANNY Ings has not gone more than two games without scoring all season.
Hopefully that statistic won’t change this weekend.
For after games against Bolton and Bournemouth, in which Sam Vokes and Keith Treacy were on the scoresheet with one in each, Danny is due.
And how timely a goal against Nottingham Forest could prove to be tomorrow.
Below Leicester it is becoming a little bit congested at the top of the table.
A four-point gap created by our point at Dean Court last Saturday, maintained after QPR lost to Reading, was cut to two points by Derby on Wednesday with their win at Sheffield Wednesday.
With the Rams to come to Turf Moor next weekend this is a crucial time for the Clarets.
But all they can do is continue their philosophy to take it a game at a time and just look to win every time they play.
It is a plan that has worked well so far. And I see no reason why we cannot keep it up.
We didn’t start well against Bolton last week, but improved in the second half to get what could prove to be a vital win.
We weren’t at our best at Bournemouth, although the pitch played a part in that, and we still ground it out for a point.
We are at the business end of the season. Games are coming thick and fast, and there are some important ones too.
This is a massive month for the Clarets and after the Blackburn Rovers game we might have a better idea of how things are shaping up.
I think we have got it within the team to do something now.
I don’t think we’ll have a better chance of getting back into the Premier League.
But we have to be 100 per cent ready, especially tomorrow because Nottingham Forest are a fair side.
Fingers crossed there will be plenty of fans roaring the Clarets on in the run-in.
Gates have been a bit down this season, and with the standard of football and results it’s hard to put your finger on why.
I know it’s expensive these days, especially for a family, and for a town the size of Burnley we don’t do too bad for crowd numbers.
But it would be nice to see more bums on seats, especially for such a big game to give the lads an extra boost.
Having those extra people there really does make a difference to the players.
