Kilgallon has an eye on the Rovers first team

Lancashire Telegraph: Matt Kilgallon Matt Kilgallon

MATT Kilgallon is prepared to be patient in his quest for regular football at Blackburn Rovers – knowing his chance may come during the Christmas period.

Kilgallon has not started a match since Rovers’ 3-0 defeat at Brighton in early November, having initially kept out Grant Hanley on the Scot’s return from a three-match suspension.

But Rovers face five games in 15 days over festive period and fellow centre back Scott Dann is only one booking away from having to serve a one-match ban for five yellow cards.

The skipper will only avoid suspension if he is not booked in the next three games, with an amnesty coming into force on December 31.

Dann and Hanley have formed a strong central defensive partnership for much of the past 18 months, and played together in Saturday’s 3-2 home win over Millwall.

“There are two lads there who are playing well,” Kilgallon said.

“They kept the club up last season when Blackburn were struggling and weren’t doing very well.

“When I signed, the gaffer said to me that they had done well for us last season.

“He said it would be harsh for me to go straight in there, so I’ve just got to be patient.

“With injuries and suspensions and this time of year you can be playing before you know it.

“My chance will come soon.”

Kilgallon was an unused substitute in the victory over Millwall and hopes Rovers can continue that sort of form, having also drawn 0-0 at promotion favourites QPR a week earlier.

Gary Bowyer’s side travel to Yeovil Town on Saturday before hosting Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day.

Rovers currently sit 11th in the Championship table, six points behind the play-off places.

“I’d love to be involved but as long as we keep winning that’s the main thing,” Kilgallon said.

“We’ve got another two games now that’s it possible to win.

“Three wins on the bounce would be massive in this league.”

Bowyer said: “We’ve been talking about going game by game and that’s what we’ll continue to do.

“With a couple of games in quick succession, if you can get the right results you can quickly climb up the table.

“But we’ll go game by game and hopefully we can pick up the points as and when we put in the performances.

“The league is very competitive but it’s important we just concentrate on ourselves and put a run together.”

The best thing to do if you want a bit of fun, and it really is like poking a stick in a wasps nest, is go on the Burnley threads and return the compliment.

PLEASE DON'T FEED THE TROLL.

Quite happy to have Killa as cover at CB - we also have some other good young prospects in that postion out on loan too (Ryan Edwards) - feel like our back 4 and the cover we have is pretty soil. Spurr has been an excellent addition. Just need to sort out a consistent midfield! been our achilles heel for a few seasons!

Yes if that makes you feel better Mungo, I am completely obsessed with laughing at you clowns as you stumble from one disaster to the next. It's slap-stick comedy at its finest. Venky's, Steve Kean, Relegation, Shebby Singh, six managers in a season, managers suing the club, Chicken's on the pitch, massive debts, match-fixing, "The Glove", and so on. All pure comedy gold.

You have gone from Blackburn Rovers, probably one of the best run clubs in the country to Laughingstock FC, in only 3 seasons, and yet you are still defending this car crash of a football club. Hilarious!

Keep it coming Blackburn, because I for one can't wait to see what the next episode brings. You couldn't make this stuff up!

I'm sure John Cooper Clarke had WLUV in mind, when he wrote this classic.

Like a Night Club in the morning, you're the bitter end
Like a recently disinfected sh*t-house, you're clean round the bend
You give me the horrors
Too bad to be true
All of my tomorrow's
Are lousy coz of you
You put the Shat in Shatter
Put the Pain in Spain
Your germs are splattered about
Your face is just a stain

You're certainly no raver, commonly known as a drag
Do us all a favour, here... wear this polythene bag

You're like a dose of scabies
I've got you under my skin
You make life a fairy tale... Grimm!

People mention murder, the moment you arrive
I'd consider killing you if I thought you were alive
You've got this slippery quality
It makes me think of phlegm
And a dual personality
I hate both of them

Your bad breath, vamps disease, destruction, and decay
Please, please, please, please, take yourself away
Like a death at a birthday party
You ruin all the fun
Like a sucked and spat out smartie
You're no use to anyone
Like the shadow of the guillotine
On a dead consumptive's face
Speaking as an outsider
What do you think of the human race

You went to a progressive psychiatrist
He recommended suicide...
Before scratching your bad name off his list
And pointing the way outside

You hear laughter breaking through, it makes you want to ****
You're heading for a breakdown
Better pull yourself apart

Your dirty name gets passed about when something goes amiss
Your attitudes are platitudes
Just make me wanna p*ss

What kind of creature bore you
Was it some kind of bat
They can't find a good word for you
But I can...

Hi Frenchie glad to see you are toning down your expectations and I agree that a point will be good.
However we definitely need three points and I am going for a 1-0 victory for the Rovers and a win a Sheffield on Boxing Day.
Despite this I still say we are not good enough to go up although if we make the play offs, which I doubt, it would bring in some very welcome money.
Incidently good odds on a Rovers double.
Have a good Christmas.

Le Bon Noel to you too RPC and I too hope for a victory, always want a win for the Rovers whoeber we play! Which reminds me of the Rovers record from the seventies....

No matter who we are playing
No matter where we play
We are the main attraction
The best team on the day

Whether or not we are winning
Many miles from home
Good old Blackburn Rovers
Will never walk alone....and so it goes on...

A sound core of around 7k hardened supporters back in those days, seems like that core is aroound 12k now....so taking all our kids down to Ewood as punishment back then - and then winning the Prem - did count for something for our small town team!

Also got some good more recent memories - like dining at the very top table of football for a while thanks to Uncle Jack! Something only five other teams have done in the last twenty years and something none of our local rivals will ever experience.

Yes Frenchie a reminder of how old we are all getting and lovely memories to ensure a good nights sleep. Don't know if the really good times will ever return but don't really care as long as we do ok and keep beating that lot down the road. The championship will do for now.
Going to eat soon and enjoy a glass of my favourite red.

Will you go round to his manor Stone Island - all kitted up in your hooly gear?

Will you slap him a new face?

Will you and your 'boys' teach him who is boss?

Let me know when you are going round Stone Island - I will ring the old bill so that you can have a line of coppers to hide behind, make you feel right at home that will.

That's what B*rnley usually do though, isn' it?

When B*rnley stand behind the OB it's because Rovers need protecting from B*rnley; when Rovers stand behind the OB it's because they're "hiding" from B*rnley.

Be careful. They're well hard this lot! Twenty of 'em once run 150 ICF on Euston, didn't you hear? In Porters book of fairytale's, The Silly Squad, he claimed about 30 of 'em had off 200 of Millwall's finest, down at The Den. He's a man to be reckoned with, is Porter. They say his navigational skills are second to none. He often surprises rival firms, by turning up at the wrong venue. A genius, he is. Are your teeth chattering yet?
