Black stays quiet on his own future

BLACKBURN Rovers caretaker boss Eric Black insists he has not even thought about his own Ewood Park future after describing the last 24 hours as a “whirlwind”.

Black took charge of first team affairs for this afternoon's 1-1 Championship draw with Charlton after Steve Kean had stunned the club by quitting as Rovers boss last night.

Black, who had been Kean's assistant manager, is expected to temporarily continue in the hot seat but he declined to comment on whether he would like the role full time.

He said: “I haven't even thought about. I haven't even reflected on it. I have been rather busy since 8pm last night.

“We will see what the owners decide. The games come fast and thick. I haven't even thought about it, it has been a bit of a whirlwind.

“The owners will decide where the club goes and I am sure they will make the right decision.”

Black admitted no one expected Kean to resign until he informed them at a team meeting in their London hotel last night.

He said: “It was business as usual and then Steve decided in the hotel that it was time to move on and he has every right to make that decision. We respect his decision.

“We had no inclination at all. He decided last night was his decision and I fully respect it.

“The feeling was disappointment because they fully respect the manager. I didn't have a worry in terms of the attitude of the players because I know them well enough.”

Dickson Etuhu gave Rovers an early lead at The Valley before Johnnie Jackson scored an equaliser before the break, after his penalty had just been saved.

“The players that are in the dressing room have a magnificent attitude and they have shown that under extremely difficult circumstances”, said Black.

“They have defended extremely well and onwards and upwards. I think it was a fair result. We thought the penalty was poor but our reaction to the save should be better.

“I am not saying we were fantastic or threatening their goal. But I thought we had a little bit more compactness and a bit of resilience.”

Meanwhile there is mystery surrounding Rovers defender Gael Givet after the defender was withdrawn at half time.

Black admitted the substitution was not due to injury or tactical reasons, but refused to comment further.

I wonder with Givet's wage halving due to our relegation, does this mean he thinks that he can keep getting away with just putting half a shift in.

Its just been one thing after another with Givet since day 1 and he's not even that good(just slightly better than the other defenders in the squad).

Would be hard to be less compact/resilient than of late. We'll take that as a good sign Eric.

Could be a scare with his heart. He is our best defender. Why criticise the player? Lost your punchbag Kean? If Givet didn't want to play for Rovers he would have asked for transfer

Yes it might be a heart scare. But if it was do you not think we would have already been told, as this has happened several times this year. My comments were made in a jokey manner, but maybe there is something quite dark behind it all. Why else would Black refuse to comment? If it was a heart scare I think Black wouldn’t have a problem commenting. I hope I am wrong as I want things to go back to normal asap, but I think that will only happen when the right new manager is chosen.

Possibly. I agree that Kean going isn't the total solution and I never thought it would be. There's sh+t at our club that we can only imagine. The players must be sick of the whole circus. Black has been chucked in at the deep end and will be worried about commenting on anything at this stage. I agree with Paul Merson that Singh is an idiot and only trying to be friends with fans. We need some transparency. I'm sick of the conspiracy theories. We need a strong manager in a strong position with the owners not a yes man desperate to keep his job. I personally think Givet is one of our better players and has always been committed so if he's not at the races, there's a good reason

Black is being quite dignified I think at what must be a difficult time for him. Apparently he kept to the dug-out for much of the game today, but maybe he would have been better out on the touchline sorting the team out as the match went on. But he must know that his job is on the line now depending on who comes in. I think Black is quite well respected in the game in general and if the new manager does not already have his own 'staff team' then Black may be kept on as assistant or maybe as first team coach at least till the end of the season? Would be nice to have the new manager in for the Forest game.

Fair comment Frenchie, I still think it will be Hendry in the end with Shebby as DoF based on the Venky way...
I just cant see them buying in talent in the manager dept.
However as Kean has gone we can look forward to happier days, with all the protesters joining us happy clappers back at Ewood, or will they..?
I am still seeing a lot of negative talk from the usual suspects...no surprises there then

There' no way Hendry will become manager so get your hand off it. Fortunately they will offer the job to Sherwood based on Shebby's recommendation. BTW I was told that Shebby was at Old Trafford this afternoon? Surely this was to talk to Timbo and not because Shebby actually supports Spurs isn't it?

You might as well start practising the Sherwood out chants and working on the new banners now

I am still seeing a lot of negative talk from the usual suspects...no surprises there then
Sorry Wild Rover just cannot see Hendry being kept on by the new manager - unless the new manager is of course Eric Black? Even then I think it is doubtful.

I still think that the new manager will be Sherwood - he is being linked so closely and so quickly with the job that surely he has already been approached and given his OK even prior to Kean being sacked?

So Sherwood and who? I think he would need some help initially - maybe Redknapp with him until the end of the season? Also I would keep Black for now too. Sherwood is so well respected in the game at all levels and very knowledgeable that I am sure he will make an excellent manager for us.

Whilst it is patently obviousl we need a good manager - what club dosent, I am afraid he would have to be a diplomat on the scale of henry kissenger to have any chance of sorting out the Venkys regime,

When/if all comes to light we may find that SK (whilst not the man for the job) is not the source of all our woes.

A sample of Kean's antics while in the employ of Blackburn Rovers:

1. Appointed manager in the immediate wake of Sam Allardyce's dismissal. Kean is a client of Jerome Anderson, an agent heavily relied upon, in an advisory capacity, by the Indian owners before and after their arrival at the club. In spite of his lack of experience, he is given ample support by Rovers fans already suspicious of the intentions of the Indian owners.

2. Convicted of drink driving in Macclesfield Magistrates' Court. Pleads guilty after initially accusing Rovers supporters of spiking his drink. Labelled a liar by District Judge Nicholas Sanders. Rovers fans will come to be very familiar with Steve 'Stevie' Kean's penchant for telling mistruths.

3. Almost leads the club to relegation during this first season. Survival on the last day is welcomed though the poor results and performances are there for all to see.

4. Retains his job in spite of an obvious inability to do it. Touts big signings, massive transfer budgets and European football. All of this turns out to be an enormous fantasy. Kean doesn't care.

5. Sustained anti-Kean sentiments begin after the start of the 2011/2012 season (Kean's second in charge) thus undercutting the fiction that he was never given a chance from the off. Dreadful results and performances continue, freak victories over Arsenal and United notwithstanding. Defensive side of the game appears not to feature in Kean's strategy or game plan. He will oversee a total of 3 clean sheets in league play during his tenure.

6. Unmoved by fans' concerns. Claims that it is a crazed minority who wish to see him go, a misguided few unable to "see what we're trying to do here." He later ramps up his antagonistic baiting of those supporters who have the temerity to question his record. Said record continues to be the worst of any Blackburn Rovers manager in history. Kean fails to acknowledge that this is even a problem.

7. In the midst of a particularly bad run of results Kean receives an improved contract. His annual salary now measures at around £1.3m. His win percentage continues to make Christian Gross look like Arsene Wenger.

8. With the aid of club PR 'guru' Paul Agnew (who later receives a handy promotion to the club's board) Kean conducts some of the most tightly controlled press conferences in football. He lacks the gravitas and achievements to deserve such deference but the press play along anyway. In one instance Kean brings his child along just in case.

9. Visibly taunts supporters in the wake of a desperate, scrappy away draw at Wigan, a result for which the phrase 'daylight robbery' was almost certainly created. A feature of Kean's tactical genius is Morten Gamst Pedersen's misunderstanding of the rules surrounding corners. Kean doesn't care. Gives the away support the big 'F**k you!' since they are quite obviously willfully ignorant of "what we're trying to do here."

10. Throughout the course of the season, he spins a series of blatant lies with respect to player injuries and contracts. The team's best player, Junior Hoilett, is on the verge of signing a new contract for much of it. Near the end of the campaign Kean changes his tune and laughably suggests that there is a chance that the Canadian could be re-signed in the summer.

Further fibs emerged relating to the injury statuses of experienced pros. Michel Salgado, Jason Roberts and Ryan Nelsen are all deemed to be suffering from one injury or another. In actual fact they are either under contracts that Venky's no longer wish to honour, they have questioned Kean's ability to run the team, or both these things apply. Salgado offers to tear up his contract and play to retain fitness and help the team. In the midst of a relegation battle Kean refuses the services of a player with two Champions League medals and over 50 caps for Spain.

Roberts is also supposed to be suffering from an injury (though he tells anyone who will listen on the radio every Saturday that he is fit and ready). Again he is shipped off and immediately begins thumping them in for Reading.

Nelsen, it is suggested, is in traction and a return to his native New Zealand is essential in order to get him back in the side as soon as possible. He is an integral part of the team claims Kean. Within a few weeks Nelsen has been pushed out and is turning out for Spurs. No sign of traction.

Chris Samba too sees through Kean's **** and demands a move. Kean appears to dig his heels in and refuses. Later he sells him to Russia, outside the British transfer window. No replacement can be recruited.

After the departures of key first-teamers, Kean trots out an increasingly familiar excuse. "We've lost a lot of experience... This is a very young team" he laments.

11. Vuckevic is more than likely a victim of the weekly playing budget to which Kean must adhere (hardly his idea admittedly). The presence of such restrictions are plain to see when viewing Kean's sparing and unusually poor (even for him) substitutions.

12. In a hilariously cloying interview in the Daily Mail Kean claims to receive 500 letters of support each day, from all around the world. He also states that he grew up on the mean streets of Glasgow's East End in spite of his actually hailing from Cumbernauld. In the same PR exercise, Kean admits that he can't walk around Blackburn on his own as he fears for his personal safety (in spite of the 1500 written communications of support received each week). His bodyguard also doubles as his chauffeur thanks to that pesky driving ban cited earlier. Strangely, in spite of his apparent need for a bodyguard (now Ewood Park's chief security officer) there has never been a single arrest or public order incident stemming from Steve Kean's position as manager of Blackburn Rovers - his own criminal conviction aside of course.

13. Gets into a fight with one of his players at training. Said player (now at Stoke) never sees the first team again.

14. In spite of some quite embarrassing calls for sanctification from the football press (see the Daily Mail above for instance), Kean leads the club to its worst ever record and subsequent relegation.

15. Refuses to apologise to the fans in the wake of a relegation campaign he oversaw. Suggests that it is difficult to gauge whether the fans are owed such an apology as you'd "need to ask each person individually." He also assures supporters that he will be at the club for the "long term."

16. A video is released on youtube of (a clearly well lubricated) Kean telling Rovers supporters in a Hong Kong bar that he, not Sam Allardyce, discovered and championed future Manchester United and England defender Phil Jones. He goes onto to slander Allardyce, calling him a "f**king crook", claiming that such crookedness was the reason for his sacking. This incident occurred while the team was on tour in the Far East. Allardyce issues legal proceedings. Kean is subject to no internal disciplinary action by the club.

17. In spite of an alarming dip in attendances, Kean refuses to countenance the suggestion that it has anything to do with him. He suggests that there are only a few hundred people missing from the usual home attendance. PR 'guru' Agnew (now a director) claims that relegation and Championship football has scared away fickle fans.

18. Venky's attempt to throw money at the obvious problems and recruit a motley assortment of new players on undoubtedly massive money. The same old problems continue though. Tactical ineptitude and absolutely no attention to the defensive phase of the game are clear. Rovers march to the top of the league thanks to their shiny new signings and the little bit of extra quality they bring. Kean starts touting automatic promotion in spite of only ever being a failure as a manager. He also lacks experience in the highly competitive Championship. Supporters don't care about his stupid claims, still want Kean out. The damage is done.

Frighteningly, that's not all of it.

19. States that he did not see an aeroplane trailing a 'KEAN OUT' banner over Ewood Park in spite of numerous photographs showing him looking at that very same aircraft.

20. In another slanderous episode only last week, Kean suggests that former Rovers chairman John Williams is at the centre of the organised boycott of the club. Mr Williams, who is mourning the recent death of his wife, has yet to respond to these nonsensical accusations.

Also think the comments from other fans are appalling if there clubs went through anything like we have, they would of done the same.
So happy the Bald headed neandathol has gone, can't wait for the Wolves Game and rest of the season. COYB.
And Levy wants up to 3 million compensation apparently.

Feel such a relief with Keane gone, just hope venkys make the right appointment and put the new manager in full control. Give us fans the stability and success we deserve.
Agree! The new manager needs to be in TOTAL control of things. Get Shabby the Clown out, that **** just makes me so angry. Only Venkys could hire and idiot like that. Global advisor, you must be kidding us. He needs to be given advice, not provide it.

Kean down, Shabby and Venkys to go ! Still not renewing.
Though the Sherwood story is interesting. Genuine box-to-box player, unlike the many so-called we have signed since, including the clumsy Etu.
Sherwood is a shrewd operator, he'd be floolish to give up a burgeoning reputation and a good job at Spurs to manage Rovers under the "guidance" of global advisor Shabby and the ownership of Venkys.
If Venkys were to sign a decent manager or potentially decent manager like Sherwood, it would cost a lot of cash. They've already splashed out on Rhodes, do they have any money left to put into Rovers ? Many people (and me) believe Venkys are still into the cut-price game, so a big money manager looks unlikely.
On their record so far, my money is on them muddling along for some time to come by leaving Hendry and Black there.

OK a bit harsh on Black with the personal insults. Personally I was looking forward to him saying something like "Hallelujah! The alcoholic baldy has left the building. Let's kick on" or something like that.

But regards your last point forever-rovers, I don't reckon you should be so quick to steam back in with your support. If you can force the manager out with 5000-7000 of you staying away, think what you could you if even MORE boycotted the ground. Shebby admitted as much when he spoke of the poor financial situation.

Kean was just the symptom of a problem - the Venkys. It's them you need rid of, or else Black (or whoever takes charge) may as well be Steve Kean with hair.

Good shout Frenchie. Sherwood / Redknapp combo. Sounds good to me.

The Venkys are indeed the root of the recent problems, agreed. Difference is though they own BRFC. You can't pressure an owner to leave. Owners sell and I am not in a position to buy.

Steve Kean was a terrible appointment. Obviously incompetent and inexperienced. Incessant spin about positives after crap results. He took us down for Christ's sake! His record is the worst ever for a Rovers manager. To jump on Black's back now is suspicious.

Back Rovers or clear off to your own teams site.

Great post. Really sums up what Kean is all about. A disgusting creature. Now a very rich disgusting creature, courtesy of Rovers. What an absolute w4nker he really is.

FFS when his this thread going to retain some positives ?

I would like to know just how many will be returning to Ewood now the odious one as left ?

Or have we the dissenters who want Venky out thus no return to Ewood ?

Smells like cutting nose to spite face !

When are folk going to realize that BRFC always, always come back stronger ?

For Venky to make the same mistake twice will be suicide, and I don't see them doing that, do you ?

Give them a chance to redeem and rectify what as been a torrid and unprecedented time in the history of BRFC.

I expect a 22000 crowd v Wolves all singing from the same hymn sheet otherwise we are to be ridiculed from here to eternity by the lazy hand wringing set we call the press filtering down to the apathetic football supporter waiting with knives sharpened !

The deed is done and, we, as Rovers supporters of our football club have to get right behind the team now along with the owners.

Fail in that and the scribes will tear us to pieces - they are waiting !

It's glaringly obvious to me that we need a midfield that has some pace and has the legs to get back and protect the defence. Every game thus far, Murphy, has been the stand out player for the wrong reasons. Personally, I don't think a new manager is going to be able to make substantial changes in the short term. This is because most or maybe all of any transfer money has already been spent. The squad is already enormous for the division we are in, and moving out players like Murphy who are on cushy contracts will be a very difficult task. Luckily we are able to score goals and should also be welcoming back Best soon-ish to add to our goal threat. When the right manager is chosen, traditionally, this gives the team a boost and encourages positive results and performances, if we are able to do that, then it might just get us over the line.

In other articles, with regard to the owners interfering in team selection, Black is quoted as saying:

""There was none whatsoever from the owners. I named the team last night with the help of the coaches."

More evidence of the fountain of BS that was Steve Kean. Although Black may be playing it cute, there's not much evidence there of the solidarity and togetherness that Kean was ever ready to assert. Somehow I don't think his constructive dismissal claim is going to get very far. Indeed if you can even claim constructive dismissal after resigning.

Great post. Really sums up what Kean is all about. A disgusting creature. Now a very rich disgusting creature, courtesy of Rovers. What an absolute w4nker he really is.

Venkys now certainly know that they cannot just walk all over the fans, we are the club. They have hopefully learned a very valuble lesson in how to respect the town of blackburn the people of blackburn and its football fans who are BRFC.A new start is expected from them now and as i have said from the begining of venkys take over 2years ago there must show transparency, honesty and integrity in their running of BRFC to gain back the respect of the fans lets all hope for BRFC sake they have learned and one or two others.Well done to fans who have stood shoulder to shoulder and constantly kept the pressure on venkys,NO SURRENDER

Hi forever_rover - thank goodness for that.

The uproar that as shone out like a beacon as now to cease. The noble stance taken by US the supporter of BRFC have now to galvanize resulting in putting BRFC back into a stable position, and allow for the owners etc in getting it right.

Failing that, in my opinion, and our club founder member 1875 will be become trash.

I for one do not wish that to happen !

RRRR?...the boycott is not over! Just suspended following the leaving of Kean. Should the Venky's live up to their usual incompetence and appoint a nonentity as manager then the fans I am sure will show their disapproval by resuming their protests. Let us hope they have learnt their lesson. The fans have the power! We will overcome!

Please Shebby make sure the Venky's know what they are doing!

After the Nicholas/Merson diatribe yesterday on Sky in defence of Kean, it was interesting to hear the hacks on Sunady Supplement.

There was no mention of the fans' treatment of Kean. They agreed the club is a disaster and being shambolically run by Venkys, which we knew.

They also referred to the questionable way Kean got the job, even citing Anderson's position at the time, as one of the reasons fans were suspicious of him from the start; very brave of them, I thought.

Essentially, they were not overflowing with sympathy for him, unlike the pathetic, ignorant SEM clients had been on Saturday.

It was also suggested Kean may be suing the club, saying he had been forced to use players he had not brought/did not want to bring to the club. Now this is not unusual these days - Abramovich does it at Chelsea (although they are usually quite good players) - so there is a precedent.

We know this applies to some of the Portugese players Singh brought over this Summer, but will he be including those his agent, Jerome Anderson, has aleady admitted to having brought in? Rochina, Formica and Jones (on loan) for example.

Now, lets assume Anderson did not influence Kean getting the job - difficult I know, but bear with me.

Surely, as his agent, he would have an obligation to establish his clients' role and responsibiles in that role before negotiating his contract. Thereby, any contract should only have been signed, you would think, on the understanding third parties would oversee some or all player recruitment.

Even if he had not established this at that time, considering Anderson was the first of the third parties involved in player recruitment, it is also reasonable to assume he had told Kean this would be the MO when signing players and also advised him of players he intended to sign.

Kean was therefore fully aware of this and, if he didn't want Rochina/Formica/Jone
s etc, why did he not he tell HIS agent at the time?

Leroy Rosenior on the FL show last night summed it up when he said Kean's position had been untenable for 18 months.

Hi RR- RU- Frenchy and all,
I personally can't wait to get back, the fact that the cretin has FINNALY gone is enough for me.

My personal hopes for the future, Venkys realise the mistakes they have made and carry on putting money IN.

My own choice for manager would be Holloway but as long as its not an internal choice I will support anyone who is given the chance.

I will most probably retire from posting and concentrate on going back to being a simple fan.

Thanks for all the posts wether you agreed or disagreed with me I have enjoyed playing my small part in getting rid of the lying drunken second team coach.

See you all back at Ewood.

No point arguing or debating. Wolves game will make it very clear how many of the 10k stay aways were boycotting on Kean and how many were fairweather glory fans.

I predict 6k tops returning, with the rest either claiming they won't return until Venky's have gone or just not bothering unless we get to the play-offs, where they'll all come back acting like they'd never been away.

Eric Black out!

Why?

The team selection was poor. Bring on Nunes and Rochina on the wings to provide some pace and creativity and importantly players who can keep the ball and pass the ball round, this means we are not constantly defending and puts our whole team under less pressure.

Also, Murphy, Dann, Orr and Etuhu give the ball away much more than Rochina does, Rochina is just an easy target in that respect.

Rochina scored more goals than Hoilet last seaon if you compare minutes played, in fact, Hoilett only score 2 goals more but played almost every game.

Maybe players like Rochina and Formica should just go as they are talented players and their confidence levels will only be damaged by management who feel more physically solid players who give the ball away more often with less attacking ability will perform better. Eric Black Out!

In my view we need atleast 3 players with strong tecnical ability playing. This could be Nunes, Gomes and Rochina and with Formica as backup, supporting by two solid central mid-fielders (who don't slow them down too much).

When we beat Arsneal and Man UTD Rochina started, having 3 technical players who retain the ball and scare the other team evidently works. In these games when Kean took these players off we nearly lost the game!

Hi Lancs P - That's the spirit.

Now is the time for these owners to step up to the plate and realize in all certainty that football clubs throughout this land, in the main, are the bedrock of it's community followed by a backlash should it be besmirched in the way it as. The appointment, and the sudden and sad decline began when Venky heeded the advice of, well, let us surmise here !

Never having experienced something of this nature with the beloved that is BRFC I want it over and done with then I can move on and return to what football supporters do best - support.

As much as we've become maligned in certain quarters believe me when I say that their are supporters out there who have applauded the very real stance taken by supporters of BRFC.

Nothing shines more brightly on a headline than the negative whilst all the real dirty work goes on behind the scenes(or in this case the streets of B/burn and it's surroundings) never losing focus of what as to be achieved for this founder member 1875 with honors.

I look forward to cheering on the B&W shirt in earnest, along with your good self, returning to the scope of being a football supporter, trusting those that run the club without any to-do and then normal moaning and groaning can resume !

In the main I've been impressed with the opposition to this debacle, but we have to move on thus supporting that which is now going to be in front of us ?

Venky, I'm sure, will not make the same mistake again unless..............

Venky, I'm sure, will not make the same mistake again unless.............. .................... .................... .................... .................... .................... .................... .................... .................... ................they are asset stripping !

Also Martin Keown on Football Focus gave no reference to the fans, said he couldnt believe he had lasted this long and it should have been sorted out ages ago, he and Fowler. Nicholas and Merson have JA as their agent. They are a disgrace. Notice how Le Tissier doesnt get as involved.

Great post. Really sums up what Kean is all about. A disgusting creature. Now a very rich disgusting creature, courtesy of Rovers. What an absolute w4nker he really is.
Spot on, says it all just a pity some on would not listen on here and could not see what was coming 2yrs ago in stead of being constantly critical of fans anger and stance against kean as a manager in the first place and we all know who they are and they are still trying to justify themselves with on here with sarcastic comments on here about rovers fans who were 100% right to show concern over the management of our club and stand up to venkys shocking management.

[p][bold]dumfries j b[/bold] wrote: This is the best post i, ve seen regarding SKs reign !!I From the Guardian Irishrover83 30 September 2012 3:51AM A sample of Kean's antics while in the employ of Blackburn Rovers: 1. The deed is done and, we, as Rovers supporters of our football club have to get right behind the team now along with the owners.

Good shout Frenchie. Sherwood / Redknapp combo. Sounds good to me.
Sherwood reported today by BBC Sport and others as saying that the reports linking him with Rovers are 'just rumours' and that he is happy where he is and there is nothing to consider - it is just 'speculation'.

Which probably means that Rovers have not made an 'official' approach to Spurs to speak to him yet.

Other reports have his salary as being already agreed at 35 thousand pounds per week with a 1 million pound promotion 'bonus' at the end of the season when we go up.

Unless something goes wrong with the compensation payment to Spurs it looks like he will be coming to join us this week.

I'm not so sure Frenchy I read somewhere can't remember where that levy wants around £3m compensation. I am not sure that Venky's will pay that. I personally feel like after the Ince debacle we need someone with experience and a reputation to steady the ship. I still feel that there are a lot of open sores behind the scenes and a novice might not cope well with it all. Redknapp's name has been mentioned, and at first I thought no chance (and prob still do), but he hasn't yet distanced himself from the job, and I have seen him on documentaries in the past saying that all he wants to do is spend everyday working in football. That kind of fellow is exactly what the club needs atm, even if it is only a temporary basis or contract, say just for this season.

Would Harry be up for a job like this? He usually likes to splash the cash. He won the FA Cup for Pompey but at a terrible price.
That said, he would entice decent players and with Kevin Bond just might do the business.
But realistically, Sandbanks or Shadsworth lol!? Surprise me Harry!

I am still seeing a lot of negative talk from the usual suspects...no surprises there then[/p]
Sherwood is so well respected in the game at all levels and very knowledgeable that I am sure he will make an excellent manager for us.[/p]
Good shout Frenchie. Sherwood / Redknapp combo. Sounds good to me.[/p]
Unless something goes wrong with the compensation payment to Spurs it looks like he will be coming to join us this week.[/p]
That kind of fellow is exactly what the club needs atm, even if it is only a temporary basis or contract, say just for this season.[/p]
Would Harry be up for a job like this?

Brilliant summary of the deluded one (Kean), even when he called time on his unsuccessful self Inflcted reign, he still coudn`t help himself by thanking the majority of fans, definatley deluded to the end, sad git.
Anyway, he`s gone, time to move on. Let`s start a new chapter and hope Venky`s get It right this time, If they don`t, we`ll cross that bridge when we come to It. For now we have to stop the negativity and come together to roar them lads back to the Prem, because If we don`t, we`ll be playing right Into Keans hand and the rest of the deluded people he tried to convince that It wasn`t his fault the fans stayed away.

@blueskies. Quoting just means having to scroll through everything. Yes, I do agree we might not be that attractive to Harry. But, on a short term contract he may just agree to that. Like I say he loves to be in work somewhere, and you have got to admit we are an interesting job, and with the right person in charge we have the resources to get promotion. So when you look at it as Harry gets another honour on his C.V. (promotion), earns himself a wage and a nice bonus with promotion, and has no long term commitment to us, so he can do what he does best, which is clear off when another top job becomes available (just as long as he waits until the season is over before going). I think it's a win win scenario, all we have to do keep all our cheque books as far away as possible from him Lol.

If Harry or someone of his ilk came to Ewood, they would set in place the foundations of a proper football club (which we had prior to Venkys and advisers), sooooo, as long as the next manager does exactly what it says on the tin, recovery may be possible.
It has to be a proper man. not a puppet like Kean was.
It's accountability time for Venkys and/or who is actually running this club.
It's still a roller-coaster ride but at least some of the poison has been removed from the patient.

You've changed your tune Lancs Pensioner haven't you? I thought you said you weren't going back unless Vankys picked a new manager that you approved of? You say you will probably retire and concentrate on being a simple fan. I suggest you don't need to concentrate too long.

What about Slaven Bilic, would be good at Rovers, knows English football, likes to play attractive football, great motivator, and wouldn't put up with any interference.
Bilic is a good shout.

Also heard Rednapp touted for QPR

I would take Hughes back in a shot, he gave us fight, fitness and the organisation needed to get promoted.

OK then, so the circus starts all over again. Rookie managers learning their trade at Blackburn Rovers.
Have you not learned anything during the last two Years?
Like most on here I want a proper manager at the club. Not some untried, untested ex player......Too big a gamble after what's gone on and we could end up in a few weeks time, where we just left off.

@jb dumfries: You should mention that the precursor to the training ground fracas was Kean's disdain for a robust defensive strategy and an aversion to equipping the team with experienced defenders that resulted in playing Nzonzi at CB in the first game of the season.

That one action was the culmination of Kean's amatuerish dealings with Nelsen and Samba which impacted upon Nzonzi application and concentration for the rest of the season i.e. that Kean could pull that tactical gem out at any time.

The other omission is that Kean's fear of being spiked didn't prevent him going out drinking with his meathead entourage around the peaceful villages of the Ribble Valley. Places where he was more likely to be accosted by Miss Marple than any over-zealous Rovers fan.

Anyway, all that stuff is in the past thanks to the sterling efforts and selfless sacrifices of the boycotters. All Rovers fans will be vindicated when it transpires that Kean has messed up any future job that he manages to lie his way into, if he ever works in English football again.

French Rover says...

Looks like Sherwood does want to come but Spurs wont play ball with the Rovers. Spurs will not give him the Technical Directors Role he wants either as AVB has someone else in line for that - so maybe we will see Sherwood walk out of the Lane and come to Ewood later this week?

Rovers are putting presssure on Sherwood to do just that by leaking the alternative choice - Shearer and Newell/Dowie.

I would actually prefer Shearer/Newall to Sherwood I think but what about a Shearer/Sherwood combination...now that would really be something to get the house rocking! Love Shearer and love Sherwood.....both Ewood legends and men of great stature in the game. They have been there, done it and got the medals and tee-shirts to prove it - unlike so many pretenders to the job these days. Any combination of the above will do me.

Just heard from a mate of mine (can't remember his name) but he works as a car salesman at a garage in Burnley for a very reliable Asian owner, the owner had told him in confidence that Harry Redknapp along with Sherwood, Shearer, Dowie and Newell would be forming a management team to buy out the current owners. Crap, I know! but it's just my little contribution to the rest of the crap on here. Sorry.

I think we have quite a few potential candidates to possibly approach. I kind of agree with you French Rover, Shearer and Sherwood/Newell could actually be worth trying. They have a lot of experience as players and even some as manager/coach. I think Venkys should consider the following candidates:
- Shearer w/Newell, Sherwood or Flitcroft
- Sherwood (though he seems to have shut the door on us) w/Newell/Flitcroft
- Holloway
- Ole Gunnar Solskjær w/Mark Dempsey (have done a great job at Molde FC)
- Redknapp
- Henning Berg (already an experienced manager)

Do me a favour Black. You're just Steve Kean with more hair. And you look like a right bell end.
C'mon, how do you call this " spot the dingle with the new username" fun, you're making it too obvious. You're supposed to say a few good things before you lay on the dingle sheite, you haven't got the trolling thing off yet have you?
Bye dingle look forward to outing your next ID, try and make it less obvious next time.
I also suspect post is not from a Rovers fan. I am delighted the Age of the Clown is over but these Dingle infiltrators are still trying to poison the fanbase. I can't wait to get back to Ewood. Rovers fans need to just back the team 100% now. Call for unity.
Well "Forever-Rovers" and the others, I think my new account will be "Dingle-infiltrator"

. I like the sound of that. Cheers!

Raith Rovers don't have their own site.

Good luck in your hunt for a new manager. My preferred options are:

Shebby Singh
Alan Shearer
Tim Sherwood

But whoever you get, I reckon you will finish the league lower than when Steve Kean was in charge.

Best of luck eh?
