Rovers look to Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh

Arsenal's Marouane Chamakh
BLACKBURN Rovers look set to cool their interest in Huddersfield hot shot Jordan Rhodes – after enquiring about the availabilty of Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh.
Rovers have had two bids for the Scottish international rejected and have been warned off unceremoniously by the Terriers, who are adamant the striker won’t be sold to a Championship rival.
The Lancashire Telegraph now understands the only way interest in Rhodes will be revived is if the player himself tells Huddersfield he wants to speak to Rovers.
It is understood the 22-year-old would be keen on a switch to Ewood Park, with a bumper long-term deal believed to be on offer, but has so far been unable to discuss the move with Rovers.
Should Huddersfield grant the player permission to speak to Rovers, if he asks to, boss Steve Kean would be willing to resurrect Rovers’ bid, but the ball has now been placed very much in the player’s and Hudders-field’s court.
With Steve Kean insisting yesterday that Rovers were still in the market for another forward – despite Colin Kazim-Richards’ brace as the central striker on Sunday – efforts will be stepped up to boost their fire power from elsewhere.
Manchester City John Guidetti has already been enquired about but a £6million up front asking price is understood to have put them off, in the belief the Swede would be a bigger risk than Rhodes.
They have now turned their focus to Arsenal’s Morroccan striker Chamakh, in the hope he could be made available for a six-month loan deal.
The Lancashire Telegraph understand an enquiry was being made about the player yesterday as they look to add another striker before Saturday’s Championship opener at Ipswich.
Chamakh, 28, has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular since moving to Arsenal from Bordeaux in 2010.
The Morroccan international is likely to be pushed even further down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, after Arsenal’s signing of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giraud, with Rovers hoping the lure of first team football could just tempt him into the Championship.
Meanwhile, Rovers are still waiting to complete the signing of Portuguese midfielder Diogo Rosado.
The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms with the club but negotiations are ongoing with Sporting about a compensation fee for his services.

If he wants to play regular footie then dropping down would be a good start for him, there's no reason why he wouldn't, as far as I am aware no one as yet has come in for him.

He has no idea what he is doing - or saying - from one day to the next.
We are going to have more strickers and midfield players than any other team in the league.
Kean will give them the job of watching from the bench as the defence carries on leaking goals. And that is if the defenders from last year stay, which may not happen.
The madness continues.
Only 3 defeats to go for Kean. He should be able to manage that in no time at all.

I can say, yes I like the look of Chamakh. I think we might enquire about his availability.
I think this story is just speculation and has come from a national source.
About time we got something sorted. If Goodwillie gets loaned out to Hearts we are starting to look a bit thin up front all of a sudden with Best out and Blackman and Slew moved on.
I honestly think that Goodwillie and Gomes might make a decent partnership. Goodwillie knows how to find the back of the net he just needs a run of games. He runs the channels pretty well. And with Gomes as a pivot type player dropping deep, that could work very well, playing round the corner balls to Goodwillie running over the top.

We have no realistic chance of getting any of these players ... we were never a rich and fashionable club when we were in the Premier League and we are certainly less so now that we are in the nPower Championship...
Before the January transfer window we were promised early activity with some Premier League experience being targeted .... we got a guy called Modeste on loan .... we got the obscure signing of Marcus Olsson .... and we got Bradley Orr (surplus at QPR)....
This season, Murphy, Best and Etuhu are good signings but they are has beens and we dont know if they are past their best ... easy targets and easy signings .... in addition to the 5 Portuguese unknowns we have signed, which includes a "young Gattuso" ....
Can I also stick a middle finger to those who want us to stop being negative .... we are all paying fans and have been our entire lives, so we have a right to vent our frustrations .... almost a year ago, Steve Kean told us to judge him after the transfer window was closed .... almost three transfer windows later we are about to embark on a season in the Championship .... why the hell should I be positive??
You can get all the experience and promising players you want ... if you dont have an experienced manager who can get the best out of them, then its a waste of money

My bigger question is whether we really need to prioritise another striker. Yes, Best is out and he is our most capable forward but surely Goodwillie and Rochina are capable of playing up front in the championship? we then have Colin K-R, Nuno Gomes and 2 more portuguese players that we have just signed.
Surely we need to look at getting in a couple of players that can use the wings for service and a couple of defenders? We only have 8 defenders in total and I am not sure that is enough especially given Givet and Kean dont talk and Olsson is better as a winger.
Also nice to see our hit prospect Myles anderson has joined Aldershot, hope he stays there....

So, brushed aside by HTFC with this lots derisory offer for Rhodes which would seem never to have been a serious offer in the first instance to then move onto the preferred option of the marginalized odious one & his cohorts - loans and freebies ! Yes, I know we have paid £3million for the now crocked Best, but
this circus will continue until someone really begins to take the bull by the horns.
Will this guy come from the Gooners to Ewood ?
Myself, I would be very, very surprised.
Again, I arrive back at the abject record of this preposterous individual who masquerades as BRFC manager when we look to sign quality at the right age.
We will see, eh ?

but are not being listened to for whatever reasons. I will be one of the so called 10,000 but that doesn't mean I'm right in purchasing 3 x season tickets or supporting Kean. These fans CAN make a difference from the outside and we need to make a difference inside, when things are 'dire'.
Lets be honest, this idiot has to go, but I am not willing to turn my back on my club as my financial status dictates that I can waste my hard earned cash on watching us rise again or die another death, so please don't ever judge other people opinions, as i am sure it is hurting them more in staying away and trying to do something that the club will react to. You and me are probably doing the easy option and really doing nothing to change things, so put up and shut up and support each other, because we all want the same thing!!

I'm gutted, perplexed and saddened that I have reached the decision in not attending Ewood until the odious one has left.
This guy as treated BRFC with utter disdain thoroughly destroying all that I believe this club stands for.
Contentious, I know, but his abject and appalling lack of consideration within his own ambitions for BRFC have become to much to bear.
40 years on a mostly consistent basis I have followed BRFC through all situations, but this is one step to far as far as I'm concerned.
I wish you well for the season ahead in supporting the mighty blue and white's thus the hardcore of 6000(or maybe it is now 8000?) will always remain to carry on the support of our club.

Unfortunately, IMO a siege mentality as become apparent these last 12 months, at least. The shame of it all is that in the main all of the players have had the support of the fans, taking away the disgraceful behaviour toward Andrews.
For a manager to create such a mentality toward the fans,(and of course vise versa) again IMO, with players alluding to hating the fans is totally and utterly wrong, but it is a situation we find ourselves in which makes it more of an importance to repair this horrendous fractious situation asap.
A crying shame for all concerned, me thinks !

I know perfectly well what kind of person he is and what he has done and yes he still has plenty of cash coming in from wages etc which he could contribute to those poor pensioners (but he wont).
My point being purley from a footballing point of view since he has been appointed the defence is still leaking goals, hence the phrase from the terraces.

And can you show me the valuations of the properties? As pensioners, its not as though they can remortgage. Plus, being able to sell an alleged "mansion" to get them out of any financial trouble doesn't make Hendry's actions any less unpalatable.
Many fans respect Alan Shearer as the greatest player ever to wear the blue and white halves; didn't stop them giving him some serious stick for the way he left the club. Why should we suddenly all love Hendry who downed tools completely to get a move.
It would have been interesting to see the reaction had he returned to play against us, like Shearer did.
Hendry was one of my heroes as a player but a lot of murky water has passed under the bridge since then.
It's only normal for someone to change their opinion of someone based on things they do. On the basis of that, I have changed my opinion of him as a person.
Completely ignoring what that person has done since he entertained you (and me) for a relatively short period is naive at best.

The days of guys 'progressing' through the foootballing world and still retaining some connection with where they have come from is long long gone.
From a very young age these guys are picking up very nice salaries for 15 -20 years. Amassing to a very comfortable future lifestyle
So they have to step out once or twice a week and be 'judged' for 90+ mins at a time, this with regards to their effort and contribution in front of a paying observer.
In the meantime they scuttle off, out of the way, to their plush pads.
My heart bleeds for them.
Please, for those that do, stop putting these guys on pedestals as some sort of icons.
I am fairly sure that after a 'difficult' game and they check their bank balance, the hurt is not so badly felt after all.

For many of us, now, attending a game will be an insult to the memory of Jack Walker. It would seem that by doing so we will be condoning the actions and attitudes of a bunch of witless idiots who unintentionally or not, project a strong impression of corruption.
I have stated before that the statue of Jack Walker should be removed from Ewood Park - it symbolises everything that was right about the club. What we have seen and what we continue to witness tarnishes everything that Jack stood for.
Demanding that his statue was moved - ideally through his families insistence - would send the strongest possible message and would cast universal shame on these cowboys - including our new defensive coach.
