A ROVERS supporters group was today urging Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore to investigate the purchase of Blackburn Rovers by Venky’s.

Four members of the BRFC Action Group were meeting Scudamore at a Doncaster hotel this afternoon.

Glen Mullan, chairman of the committee, was calling on the Premier League to ‘go back to square one’ to look into the club’s buyout in November 2010.

“This meeting is absolutely huge for us,” said Mullan. “We’ve got a number of points to put to Richard Scudamore and we hope he listens to what we have to say.

“He will probably say that Venky’s have run the business how they see fit and that they can do that.

“Our main aim is that we want to go back to square one and have the Premier League look at when Venky’s bought the club.”

Earlier this month, Scudamore insisted Venky’s ‘abided by the rules’ and that they provided the Premier League with the financial guarantees required from every club.

But the Indian owners have drawn heavy criticism from Rovers supporters for their running of the club and lack of communication with fans.

The fans group is now preparing to hand-deliver to Scudamore hundreds of letters from supporters who have felt the anguish of Venky’s ownership over the past 18 months, in an attempt to gain action from the Premier League supremo.

Mullan said: “The supporters have just been left in the lurch, everybody is feeling the effects of Venky’s ownership.

“We’ve got the entire community behind us and key figures such as Wayne Hemingway, Sir Bill Taylor and Maureen Bateson.

“The bottom line is that if Richard Scudamore doesn’t want to help us, we will go to the sports minister or UEFA.

“He did not have to meet us. He is taking time out of his schedule to meet up with us and we are very humbled and grateful for that.

“But by no means are we going there to drink tea and eat biscuits.

“We’ve got a mountain to climb in trying to achieve our objectives and we are under no illusions about that.”
