LONGRIDGE took their tally of wins to three as they managed to beat Torrisholme by seven wickets in the Palace Shield Premier Division.

Northern League legend Graeme Clarke hit 60 as Torrisholme batted first but his side could only post 159-6 from their 45 overs.

That wasn’t enough to trouble Longridge, who dashed home inside 27 overs with Daniel Wilkinson leading the way with 68 not out, while John Simpson made 32, Paul Holden 31 not out and James Fairclough 28 not out.

Hoghton had a good day in Division One as they beat Vernon Carus seconds by eight wickets at Factory Lane.

The hosts made 170-7 with Edward Brown, Josh Holland and Andrew Taylor each claiming two wickets before Phil Hirst made a superb 92 not out and Darren Eccles hit 68 not out in a convincing win.

Longridge seconds went down to defeat at Mad Nook as they failed to chase down the home side’s 173 all out after Matthew Jones (5-42) had starred with the ball. Despite 41 from Alan Simpson, Longridge were 39 runs short when they were bowled out.

White Coppice enjoyed a seven-wicket win over Penwrotham seconds as Philip Jackson claimed five wickets and Antony Moore scored an unbeaten half-century, while Withnell Fold piled on the runs at Fylde in a 198-run success. John Cunliffe (79), Michael Atkinson (76 not out) and Anthony Beesley (67) helped Withnell Fold to 274-3 before Fylde were 76 all out.

White Coppice seconds were beaten by Gregson Lane in Division Three and there was a defeat in Division Four for Hoghton seconds at the hands of Vernon Carus fourths.
