Blackburn Rovers’ Championship preparations have been left in limbo after co owner Venkatesh Rao admitted the club were still in “confusion” following Premier League relegation.

After holding crisis talks with under fire boss Steve Kean in India last week, Rao said no decision had yet been made on the manager’s future.

He admitted “various things” were still being discussed about the future of the club and suggested it could take a month before things were made any clearer.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands Kean himself has returned to Brockhall confident he has still got the owner’s faith as he looks to start building for next season.

But, with Rao refusing to give him a public vote of confidence yesterday, there remains huge uncertainty over Kean’s future as pressure mounts on club matriarch Anuradha Desai to fire him.

Desai is one of the few people to believe Kean should still be manager, with co owners Venk-atesh and Balaji Rao understood to be strongly advising a change.

Rovers board members remain in the dark about the owners’ thoughts with Rao’s interview yesterday doing little to appease an increasingly frustrated set of supporters.

When asked about Kean’s future, Rao told Sky Sports: “I don’t know exactly, still everything is in confusion so I would say in the next month we will have a proper situation to talk about. In the next month let us see what happens.

“I really don’t know on that issue because we are talking about various things, so many, about the manager, about the players, about staff, about the club.

“Nothing will be said right away today so I would say kindly bear with us for some time and then the whole picture will be clear.”

“We have to come back very strongly and I hope that by taking the right decisions, we have to come back at any cost.

“Right now we are totally in shock so let us take it step by step. I think there is confusion at this stage, we are still rectifying the whole thing as a club.

“We are in the process of just thinking, we are in the middle of the process.”

Rao also insisted Venky’s were at the club for the long term and they were determined to prove their critics wrong.

Meanwhile Blackburn Rovers Supporters Investment Trust has urged the club’s co-owners to contact them to start informal discussions on how they can help the club recover from the situation the club is in.

Wayne Wild, co-founder of BRSIT, said: "We have around £2 million pledged from supporters who want to have a say in running and owning the club. This is a hugely positive step forward for Blackburn Rovers and our numbers are growing by the day.

"It seems clear the owners could use some sensible advice from people with no agenda other than what is best for Blackburn Rovers. We can help them make the right decisions for the good of the club, the supporters and their own reputation."

A public meeting will be held in Blackburn's biggest venue, King George's Hall, on Saturday May 26 at 10am where all supporters are invited to hear how they can be a part of the BRSIT's initiative to raise funds to buy Blackburn Rovers.

The Blackburn Rovers Action Group has confirmed they will meet with Premier League chief Richard Scudamore on May 30 to discuss their concerns.
