STEVE Kean's Blackburn Rovers future remains shrouded in uncertainty after talks with owners Venky's this week.

Sources close to the poultry giants believe under fire boss Steve Kean has been offered a new role within the club, but are in the dark about his response.

This would tie in with Australian cricketer Brett Lee tweeting yesterday that Kean had been removed as manager, after having lunch with Venkatesh Rao, but the tweet was quickly taken down.

Rovers directors, players and Ewood Park staff are as confused as everyone else as Kean and Venky's remain tight-lipped about the future.

They still don't even know whether Kean has been fired as manager but the Lancashire Telegraph understand retaining Kean in any influential position would cause huge unrest among Ewood chiefs and other staff.

It is understood talks are continuing between Kean and club matriarch Anuradha Desai, who is believed to feel the man she has shown such faith in still has a big part to play in the future of the club.

Venky's insiders believe a role of 'head of international academies' has been discussed but are in the dark as to what the outcome of the talks have been or whether other positions have also been touted.

Meanwhile sources in India have claimed Venky's are considering making press officer Paul Agnew 'director of communications'.
