STEVE Kean has hailed Blackburn Rovers debutant Jake Kean after this afternoon's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.

The 21-year-old made his first start for the club after Paul Robinson was ruled out with an ankle ligament injury and his boss was pleased with his contribution.

Goalkeeper Kean was joined by fellow youngsters Adam Henley and Josh Morris in yesterday's Premier League finale.

Boss Kean said: “I was delighted for Jake. I thought he did very well and that can only good for the future.

“I got the lads in at half time and told them there is always something to play for. In the second half we had an average age of something like 22 and I thought we were unfortunate not to get the draw in the end.

“I felt we had a lot of good play. We stuck at it and gave a good performance from a young side.”

Kean confirmed he was travelling to India to talk to the owners this week but was confident his job was not in danger.

He also declined to comment on reports linking press officer Paul Agnew with the chief executive position at Ewood Park.
