STEVE Kean has called for Blackburn Rovers fans to make life ‘hell’ for Wigan on Monday night – after admitting the Ewood Park clash is ‘the biggest’ for years.

Depending on this weekend’s results, defeat at home to the Latics could seal Rovers’ relegation as they sit three points adrift of safety with just two games remaining.

With Wigan guaranteed a bumper away following, and the home fans furious at the direction their club is heading, under fire boss Kean has called for the Ewood faithful to focus their efforts on creating a ‘hostile’ environment for the visitors.

Kean said: “Our message is what I have said all season. The hostile atmosphere that can be created for away fans and for away teams at Ewood is important.

“We want everybody to be behind what we are trying to do. This is a massive game, it is probably one of the biggest games we have had at Ewood for years.

“It is our last home game and every team likes to finish off with a home victory on their last game. We want everyone to get behind the team.

“We have to make sure the fans have something to shout about from the way we apply ourselves in the first minute.”

Despite Rovers’ precarious league position and woeful recent form, a defiant Kean insists the prospect of relegation has not even been discussed.

When asked whether contingency plans had been made, he said: “No.

“We don’t want to think about it.

“We want to be positive and we want to make sure that we are fixed on the goal and the goal is beating Wigan and go to the last game and beat Chelsea.

“We are not thinking about the losing the game. That is not crossing our mind. All we are doing is focused on scoring, creating chances and winning the game.

“The fans want to see us win and want to see us going into the last game attempting to beat Chelsea to stay in the league. It is pretty clear what everyone wants. We all want to be in the league and by them getting behind us and creating a real atmosphere that gets behind the team and makes it difficult for Wigan is going to be very important.

“We are not thinking about relegation. We are just thinking about the last six games at Ewood and we have managed to get 10 goals and 10 opiints.

“Within those six games I thought we were very unlucky against Liverpool and Manchester United.

“The focus we are putting on is that in the last six home games we have picked up 10 points, and scored 10 goals.

“Wigan are coming to play against us and we want to keep that focus.

“We can only focus on what we can affect and that is the next game coming up.”
