STEVE Kean has laughed off suggestions that he was ‘attacked’ by a fan at training this week – after insisting the ‘mischief makers’ are just ignored.

National reports claimed the Blackburn Rovers boss had been confronted by an angry supporter at Brockhall, forcing a security guard to step in and lead him away.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands that a supporter did approach a security guard at Brockhall on Wednesday and ask for an audience with Kean but, when denied, he left after a good-natured discussion.

Ahead of Monday night’s crucial visit of Wigan, Kean admits he is used to ‘inaccurate’ speculation now and is adamant his squad will continue to ignore it.

He said: “I have no idea where it is coming from. It is obviously a bit of mischievous play, if you like, from somebody.

“I don’t know why it is getting into the media and is so inaccurate, but it doesn’t really bother us.

“It makes no difference.

“It would make a difference if it was true because that would be a worry but seeing as it is not true, we just laugh it off. It doesn’t matter.”

Rovers have been dogged by rumours of training ground bust-ups involving players and the manager for most of the season.

Kean though is adamant the spirit could not be better and says his players will continue to ignore the rumours as they focus on Premier League survival.

He said: “A few weeks ago, leading up to the Norwich game, which was a massive game, there was supposed to be players fighting with each other or players fighting with me.

“It never happened.

“I was supposed to be in Munich when I wasn’t.

“I don’t know why that was put in and this week there was meant to be a fan who came in and had a go. I think the newspaper said the players were stunned but we have had nobody in the building, certainly no fan involved in anything during a training session.

“I don’t know what it is all about but it doesn’t really affect us.

“The players read the press and they just laugh at it.

“If there had been anything that would have been a serious incident, like there was meant to be a few weeks ago, we have systems and processes that would have been reported in the proper fashion.

“We have very tight security and it is very hard to get in here.”
