ACCRINGTON Stanley boss Paul Cook has expressed his frustration after accusing his players of switching off as the season comes to a close.

Stanley were beaten 5-1 in their penultimate game of the campaign at Bristol Rovers on Saturday to drop back into the bottom half of League Two.

The Reds are now without a win in 10 away games, losing their last four on the road, and Cook felt his team did not show the right attitude at the Memorial Stadium.

“A lot of our lads have switched off now, they think they’ve done enough and the games aren’t important,” he said.

“But somewhere along the line the better players always turn up, that’s what makes them such good players.

“We’ve still got some young players out there who are learning and we will back them.

“But there will be a period of change coming up and if people want to be a part of that we can’t keep going away from home and getting beat.

“If we want to compete in the league we’ve got to be better than that.

“Although we huffed and puffed we were never in the game and we were never at it.

“It’s a really disappointing result because our supporters were fantastic.

“First and foremost you feel for them.”
