BLACKBURN Rovers’ Premier League future is hanging by a thread after they slipped to a feeble defeat at Tottenham, failing to notch even a shot during the 90 minutes.

Tottenham took the lead when Rafael van der Vaart converted from close range in the 22nd minute after Scott Dann had diverted Gareth Bale’s header on to the bar.

Aaron Lennon had missed a golden opportunity in the first few seconds of the game and Sandro then lashed a shot against the bar.

William Gallas directed a header against the crossbar after Van der Vaart's goal, with Tottenham thoroughly dominant in the first half.

Rovers created nothing after the interval either and the second goal arrived when Kyle Walker curled home a superb 25-yard free kick with 15 minutes left.

The result leaves Rovers three points and five goals from safety with only two games remaining. They could potentially be relegated at home to Wigan next Monday.
