CHURCH FC have reached the Accrington and District Boys League Under 16s cup final after a thrilling penalty shoot-out victory over Mill Hill.
The two teams could not be separated in normal time in a match that was a perfect advert for attacking football.
Samuel Drinkwater gave Church the lead before Matthew Nuttall levelled for Mill Hill.
The teams exchanged further goals – Jordan Howe for Church and Tyler Pugh for Mill Hill – and then went in search for the winner in an end to end thriller.
But neither side could score a third and in extra time, it was the two defences which were on top so it was on to the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
Both keepers stepped up to the plate, each making a save but it was Church who held their nerve to win 4-2 on spot kicks to book a place in the final.
Church will now play Burnley Belvedere in the final after their 2-0 win against Wilpshire Wanderers.
In the U15s, there were big wins for both Dynamos SP and Great Harwood Rovers.
Dynamos beat Crown Paints 6-0 while Great Harwood Rovers enjoyed a convincing 11-0 win against Rossendale Valley.
