BLACKBURN Rovers have warned Premier League title chasing Manchester United ‘we don’t fear you’ as they look to maintain their home hoodoo over the champions.

Ahead of this evening’s crucial clash, Alex Ferguson’s men have won just twice in 11 league meetings at Ewood Park as Rovers chase a stunning Premier double over United.

December’s shock 3-2 win at Old Trafford has also filled Steve Kean’s relegation-fighting Rovers with confidence, having proved the improbable can be made possible.

Morten Gamst Pedersen was involved in the last Rovers team to beat United at home and away in the 2005/06 season, including scoring twice at Old Trafford, and believes the recent good memories can only help.

Victories for relegation rivals QPR, Bolton and Wigan has now added extra pressure on Rovers, and any defeat would push them back into the dropzone on goal difference.

Pedersen said: “I think it is a good challenge. If you are going to be frightened you have lost before the game has started. It is always going to be a tough game.

“You have face it that it is going to be Man United. But you cannot be scared. You are the underdogs, just relax. Nobody expects us to win, that is a fact.

“We had nothing to lose when we went to Old Trafford. We had a very good game plan and we stuck through that the whole way and got what we wanted.

“You always have good memories when you beat teams like that. I scored both against them in 2005/06. Of course you have good memories.

“Of course we are the underdogs, but we have a reasonable record against United at Ewood. It is always a good game and hopefully it will be another.”

Rovers boss Steve Kean has yet to be on the losing side against Manchester United as a manager, having seen his side draw with them at home late last season and then win at Old Trafford this time around.

Kean said: “It is the perfect stage. If you look back over the last four games we have played Manchester United, a win for each club and two draws and you can see we relish playing them.

“I don’t think it will be a quiet game at Ewood. The atmosphere we have been putting back into the ground of late is excellent.

“I think it is one of those games the supporters look forward to year in and year out and we are playing against a team that is bang on form.

“I am sure the fans will want to see us being the way we were and being positive like we were in the last couple of home games.”

“If we look back to the Manchester United game and the Liverpool game before that, that was a bit of a catalyst for us. The block of games we have had over the last 12 games we have been picking up points.

“To have that three points together with what we got at Anfield was massive. We had the confidence we can go to these type of grounds. They are very tough places to go to and have given us the confidence to put together a decent run.”

A draw at Ewood Park in 2010 all but secured Chelsea the Premier League title and United manager Ferguson admits he is baffled by their struggles in East Lancashire.

“I couldn't answer why," said Ferguson.

“When Blackburn score first they make it difficult for you, so maybe the answer is to make sure we keep our noses in front.”
