MARVIN Bartley and Martin Paterson's third goals of the season have put Burnley on course to get back on track, at home to high flying West Ham United.

The Clarets have failed to win their six previous games, while the Hammers came to Turf Moor hoping for a positive end to a run of four consecutive draws.

The visitors' sequence seems set to be broken, thanks to Paterson adding to Bartley's 25th minute goal 10 minutes before the break.

West Ham made the better start, but without testing goalkeeper Lee Grant as Carlton Cole missed chances.

Martin Paterson and Ben Mee went close for the Clarets, before Bartley broke the deadlock midway through the half after running on to Paterson's backheel, skipping past defender James Tomkins and finding the bottom corner.

West Ham had the ball in the net almost instantly, but Kevin Nolan's header was ruled out for a push in the box.

Cole then hit the post, before Paterson doubled Burnley's lead by turning in Mee's excellent cross.

Grant was alert to stop the Hammers hitting back before the break.
