MANAGER Eddie Howe has called for Burnley fans to turn Turf Moor into Turf Roar today.

The Clarets boss experienced his first taste of an East Lancashire derby atmosphere during Thursday night’s FA Youth Cup semi-final first leg showdown with Blackburn Rovers.

And he wants the fans to re-create that noise for this afternoon’s visit of West Ham, to help Burnley lift the gloom of their recent six-game winless run.

With play-off hopes all but mathematically over, the Clarets’ season is in danger of falling flat with nine games to go.

But Howe is looking for the fans to raise the volume to help the players raise their game.

“It was great on Thursday night, I thought our supporters were excellent and got behind the team,” said the Burnley boss.

“We’d love to see that at Turf Moor. We’d love to see a similar atmosphere from our supporters and hopefully FROM BACK PAGE really get behind our lads today because whenever you’re on a bad run you need your crowd more than ever.

“I’ve said before we want to win every game.

“I know it’s a little bit doom and gloom around the place with our current sequence of results we’re certainly not feeling that way.

“In the last few games we’ve played some really good football, we’ve just not had that cutting edge up front. We haven’t been perhaps positive enough in our passing.

“Certainly everything leading to us statistically we’re playing okay. We look reasonably tight at the back, which is really pleasing.

“Like with any sequence of results you’re not far from going the other way and getting a run of wins, and that’s what we’ve got to look to do.”

And with the prospect of doing the double over high flying West Ham, after earning a 2-1 win at Upton Park in December, Howe insists they could not wish for a better game to demonstrate their determination to end the season well.

“It’s a great game on the calendar to look forward to,” he said.

“I think you know what you’re going to get with West Ham; they’re a really strong squad full of experience, the players have been there and done it.

“It will be a really good test for us.

“I don’t think we have too much to worry about. Hopefully our crowd will get with us and really support us and create a good atmosphere because I’m sure West Ham will bring good support.”
