PAUL Cook hailed match winner Craig Lindfield after he came off the substitutes bench to give the Accrington Stanley boss his first victory.
Lindfield struck in the dying minutes, having been left out of the starting line-up for the returning Bobby Grant, to give Cook his first victory in seven matches as manager.
Jamie Devitt's first half strike was cancelled out by Brett Williams after the break, but Lindfield's header secured a 2-1 victory for the hosts.
Cook said: "All credit to Craig. He was disappointed to be left on the bench but he responded in the right way with a great goal.
"I think Northampton were the best team we have played and so to come away with the victory is extremely satisfying.
"We worked hard and probably got a bit of luck. Obviously it is a great feeling to have got that first win."
