ON Monday Burnley kick-off the New Year with what should be one of the best trips of this or any season.

It is that short journey over the Pennines into deepest, darkest Yorkshire – or Leeds as the heart of the White Rose County is correctly known.

But what should be a day that fills any self-respecting Claret with pride and excitement is already tainted thanks to the attitude of a club that truly believes a seat at the very top table of football is its divine right – and constantly makes decisions that are hard to swallow.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that Leeds United have decreed Burnley fans must part with an arm, a leg and quite possibly a kidney in order to get into Elland Road for the War of the Roses fixture.

If you are not aware of what Leeds are charging Burnley fans, you had better sit down because this is staggering.

The Peacocks want £36 for each adult ticket, £29 for senior citizens and £25 for under 16s. No, I haven’t made those figures up...amazingly they reckon that’s okay.

It is a disgrace of the highest order and the Football League should step in to prevent such prices.

The last time I was at Elland Road I don’t recall the seats being crafted by highly skilled upholsterers with Royal Appointment – and the pies were pretty rubbish as well.

I know fans want to go to games, I know they accept they are regularly ripped off.

But Leeds have taken this to new levels. I would love to see Burnley fans boycott the match – and the league take action. It’s just wrong.
