Q: Our newspaper today called for a change in manager and for the Venkys to start putting money into the club. Will you walk away?

SK: I will not walk away because I believe I can turn it around. I believe once we can get a couple of wins under our belt, once we get a settled side we can get some wins.

I believe in my heart, if we can get a side that is on the treatment room, on the pitch we will win games. That is not just me saying that, you speak to other managers and they will tell you the same. We are a good side when we can get the side out there.

Q: Can you understand why everyone is still surprised you are still manager. It is 37 games and seven wins, so it is unusual surely?

SK: I don’t know if it is unusual. The owners have given my their backing and the players are behind me. We are in a position that is tough.

I’m not making excuses because I don’t like to make them but we have to look at the injury position we are in and it is tough to get a settled back four out for two games on the bounce.

Players are getting injured and accept that as areason why we are letting in goals. The back four of last season whenwe were picking up results all over the place, the back four was thesame every game.

Q: Do you feel like you are being hung out to dry? No-one from the club has publically backed you, people are saying this is your last game.

SK: The owners are backing me.

Q: You are fighting all the club’s battles on your own aren’t you?

SK: It is not for me to make statements. The backing I have got from the owners is clear. There will be funds available in the window.

We have already got to names. It is not just a case of figures floating about, it has got to a level where names are being accepted and I have got the backing of the owners.

Q: Do you not think the horrible atmosphere at almost every home game gets to the players?

SK: No I don’t think it does. I think you see that with our lads. When we got the equalising goal, the momentum changed. I thought we were going to win the game, and they did as well.

Q: Do you not think it would be better if you weren’t here?

SK: No, I don’t. The lads are 100 per cent with me. I think that shows in their play.

Q: Can you understand why people would say that the loser this evening is in deep trouble and the manager might be sacked?

SK: I can understand why that can be written. All I can do is prepare the team to win and express to you as honestly as I can, as I always do, that my conversations with the owners continue to be positive.

Q: Did you ask the owners on phone about your future? Are the owners coming over?

SK: No, we never spoke on that level. We spoke about the importance of the game and a lot about the transfer window. I don’t know if they’ll be over before Christmas. If I get that information I’ll certainly pass it on.

Q: Do you believe you can prove all your doubters wrong?

SK: Yes, 100 per cent.

Q: The Rao brothers didn’t like the abuse they got at Wigan Athletic, is it unfair that you get it every week?

SK: I don’t know is the honest answer. I deal with it. I come in everyday. I don’t run away from the Press, I don’t run away from my responsibilities, I’ll come and face them up.

I can only express the difficult situation we’re in at the moment on the injury side. I’m sure we’ll address that in the coming weeks and get a few bodies in.

Q: When you are speaking to the owners do they understand the problems you have?

SK: Yes, they understand that these injuries are freakish injuries. Dave Fevre has never seen Gael Givet’s injury and Scott Dann’s injury in his career.

The owners know that and with the transfer window opening soon I am sure we will get players in because we have to, we are thin on the ground.

Q: Were you able to build the squad you wanted to in the summer. You signed a lot of players, including two full backs, but not many of them seem ready for the Premier League? They aren’t being used and was there a problem in the summer?

SK: If you think they are ready you play them. You have to put the players in when they were ready.

Q: There is the perception that the resources were not there to build a squad. The squad is not strong enough and were you able to strengthen it the way you wanted?

SK: You always like to assemble the best squad you can. Certainly we’d have liked to have kept Jermaine Jones but he simply wasn’t available. Schalke didn’t want to sell him.

I think the players we brought in in the last transfer window took time to bed in. We did get get Scott Dann on deadline day and I don’t think anyone can argue with what Yakubu has done.

I was given that ability to bring them in on the last day, and clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool were chasing Scottie. I was given the funds to bring them here and I was happy with that.

Q: Is there money available after reports of £10m being owed to Barclays?

SK: I don’t know the ins and outs of the financial side. All I know is that when I’ve mentioned the names I’d like to bring in it’s been okay and I move on to the next position.
