BLACKBURN Rovers earned a vital second league win of the season after seeing off Swansea 4-2 at Ewood.

With four goals from a sure-fire Yakubu, the home side put in a reasonable performance to secure this much-needed result.

However, with ‘Kean Out’ chants throughout the match and more protests Steve Kean will get little relief from fans.

The first half saw neither side posing much of a challenge.

Sloppy passing from Rovers saw only a slight advantage given to Swansea on the attacking front.

With most of their work committed to fending off early chances form the away side, the first goal from Yakubu came as a shock after a delivery from Givet down the wing 20 minutes in.

With fans meeting the goal with boos it wasn’t long until they had more to protest about after Leroy Lita equalised in the 35th minute.

Picking up the pace, Rovers managed to secure a second goal to take them 2-1 in front at the end of the half.

A shot from Simon Vukcevic was met by Yakubu to give him his second goal of the game in added time.

Come the second half Rovers were definitely the dominant side early on.

With another goal from Yakubu given offside the striker was piling the pressure against the Swansea defence.

With a free kick from Pedersen headed back across goal Yakubu took Rovers 3-1 up after his header earned him his hat-trick 56 minutes in.

Though Rovers held the lead, Swansea were eager to get back into the game.

Keeping Rovers penned into their own half they clawed the score to 3-2 after Paul Robinson parried an initial shot by Wayne Routledge only for it to land at the feet of Luke Moore for an easy strike.

Ashley Richards was beginning to trouble Blackburn’s defence with runs down the right, forcing the home side to commit more men into their own half.

With play once again tipping in Swansea’s favour Rovers were often forced into rash clearances, sacrificing their own possession.

With 10 minutes left Rovers were given two decisions to bolster their hopes of only their second win this season.

Joe Allen was sent off after earning his second yellow card for a foul on Hoilett giving the home side an extra man.

A minute later referee Chris Foy pointed to the penalty spot after Neil Taylor brought down Vukcevic inside the box.

With Yakubu lining up to take, fans were off their seats as the hit man struck home to take the score to 4-2.

With four minutes left on the clock, Yakubu was given a standing ovation as Kean opted to bring on Jason Roberts in his place.

The remaining minutes saw Rovers holding their lead as they fended off assaults from the Swans, including a great diving save from Robinson.

However, with the game still littered with strong chants of ‘Kean Out’ by fans it seems that the beleaguered manager will not be let off despite his team’s win today.
