AN understrength Clitheroe side came away from Alsager Town with all three points and their third consecutive clean sheet in the league, cementing their position in the top four of the Unibond League First Division.
Neither side created many chances in the first half although Clitheroe were forced to clear off the line and Craig Sargeson and James Dean both went close at the other end.
However, Clitheroe totally dominated the second half, with keeper Alan Fitzpatrick a virtual spectator.
And their pressure was rewarded with just 15 minutes to go when Dean netted his fifth goal in only three starts for the club with a brilliant header from the edge of the 18-yard box after good work from Jamie Nay.
The second goal came in the closing minutes after good play down the left by David Dempsey who slid the ball across for Paul Lamb to slot home.
