ROSSENDALE United slipped to a second 1-0 defeat at home in a week when Shepshed Dynamo stole the points in a game which they could and should have won comfortably.

Throughout the game, and especially in the second half, Rossendale created chance after chance, but a lack of clinical finishing and good fortune in the Shepshed defence kept the home side at bay.

Shepshed scored the only goal of the game in the seventh minute when a through ball to the unmarked Thomas left him with the simple task of sliding the ball past the advancing Caldwell in the Rossendale goal.

Rossendale responded and Eastwood and Booth were just off target with long range efforts and Mitchell Thomas's cross-come-shot hit the inside of the post and was scrambled away.

The introduction of Phil Edghill and David Eatock in the second half seemed to liven up the Rossendale attack and Eatock, Zarac and Chris McKay all came close and Dene Whittal-Williams had a header cleared off the line.

Rossendale's afternoon was summed up when Robertson was blatantly held in the box following a corner, but the referee appeared to miss the incident and waved play on much to Shepshed's relief.

The game ended with Rossendale on all out attack but it was one of those days when nothing seemed to go right and Shepshed ran the clock down to earn all three points.
