BLACKBURN Rovers have confirmed the signing of Birmingham City defender Scott Dann on a four-year deal.

Dann had a medical at Rovers yesterday and arrives for an undisclosed fee, said to be £6m rising to £8m after add-ons.

The 24-year-old had been linked with a number of clubs this summer following Blues' relegation from the Barclays Premier League but Rovers were the ones who made a late move and it paid off.

And Dann revealed his old ties with Kean - he worked under the Scot when he was a coach at Coventry - had played a part in him signing.

Dann told Rovers Player: "It's happened quite late but I'm glad to get it done and get started really.

"When you're involved in it it's not the best thing to be involved in, so I'm just glad to get it done.

"I've worked with the manager before and know what he's about and that was a big factor for me, and with the new owners (Venky's) it's a good time to come to the club."

Liverpool-born Dann signed a four-year deal at Rovers after pleading with Birmingham chief Peter Pannu to allow him to leave to pursue his Barclays Premier League ambitions.

Dann joined Birmingham in June 2009 from Coventry but was hampered by a hamstring injury last season, and has not been in Chris Hughton's first team this term.
