Rovers Ladies were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting Club Albion in their opening home game of the new Women’s Premier League season.
Keeleigh Savage scored her first goal for the club, but it wasn’t enough to secure a second successive win.
Rovers dominated throughout, controlling possession, but without creating many clear-cut chances.
They took the lead late in the first half when Rachel Foxley whipped in a cross and Savage brought the ball down before slotting past the keeper.
Sporting, who had struck the bar in the first five minutes, hit the post from a free-kick two minutes before the break.
But six minutes from time, Emily Owen’s shot looped into the back of the net for Sporting Club’s equaliser.
Hannah Forster missed a great chance to win it for Rovers late on, as both sides were forced to settle with a share of the spoils.
Joint-manager Scott Rogers said: “It’s a disappointing result, because it was our first home game and we should have been looking to win.”
