FOLLOWING the success at the Liverpool long course meet, Pioneer 79 swimmers were among the medals again in Manchester.

A team of 14 swimmers, aged nine to 20-years-old, took part in the Salford Summer Spectucular – and the results were equally as spectacular.

Pioneer came away from Broughton Baths with a haul of seven golds, 13 silvers and six bronze medals.

And it was swimmers young and old who led the gold glut – with Richard Eccles, 20, and nine-year-old Connor Roberts picking up two each.

Eccles won the 100m and 200m breaststroke and also won silvers in 50m backstroke and 200m butterfly and bronze in 50m breaststroke.

Connor struck gold in the 100m and 200m freestyle and silver in the 50m breast-stroke and 50m and 400m freestyle.

Olivia Nicholls, 10, (right) enjoyed a personal haul of seven medals, winning gold in the 200m freestyle, silver in the 100m butterfly, 100m and 400m freestyle and bronze in the 100m and 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

Mesha Ingham-Francis, 12, won gold and silver in the 100m and 50m breaststroke respectively. Charlotte Britland, 17, a big winner in Liverpool, had another good day, winning 100m breaststroke gold, silver in the 50m breast-stroke and backstroke and 200IM and bronze in the 100m backstroke and butterfly, And Shannon McGinty, 16, won silver in the 200IM.

Other swimmers to take part were Jake Healy, 14, Connor Makin, 15, Ellie Perris and Ellie Ward, both 10, Jasmin Scott, 11, and 10-year-old Martha Smith – with many of them achieving PBs.
