DEFENDER George John will not be signing for Blackburn Rovers just yet after his American club announced the deal was off.
But there is still hope that a move could be revived with the player still understood to be keen on a move to the UK.
Steve Kean had been chasing the 24-year-old Greek American, who plays for FC Dallas, for a month and looked certain to win his chase ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
But the Major League side anno-unced that Rovers and the player have not reached an agreement with John returning to the United States.
FC Dallas president and chief executive Doug Quinn said: “Despite mutual interest, Blackburn Rovers and George John have decided not to enter into a contract.
“Blackburn had significant interest in acquiring George; however, for the time being, they decided not to finalise the deal.
“We are excited to have a player of George’s calibre back at FC Dallas.”
