A DEFIANT Steve Kean insists ‘it is all coming together’ as he closes in on adding a trio of new faces to his depleted Blackburn Rovers squad.

Ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Aston Villa, Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Simon Vukcevic is on the brink of completing a £2million switch after starting a two-day medical yesterday, while American centre back George John and Bosnian international striker Vedad Ibisevic are also in talks over Ewood moves.

FC Dallas’ 6ft 3ins defender played for his club in Mexico on Wednesday night but is expected to arrive in England imminently, with boss Steve Kean saying he expected a defender to have a medical at Brockhall today.

Sources close to Venky’s have told the Telegraph Hoffenheim’s Ibisevic is the striker currently in talks with Rovers, with Kean hopeful of progress within the next 24 hours - despite a thigh injury threatening to keep him out of action until the end of September.

Kean also revealed he was hoping of making a fourth permanent signing before the summer transfer window shut at the end of the month, with him also expecting to dip into the loan market in the last few days of August.

He admitted he has expressed an interest in Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoah, although sources close to Venky’s have told the Lancashire Telegraph a move is unlikely.

He said: "A couple of bids have been accepted. We've got scans booked in, personal terms agreed. That's always good. "Vukcevic is the midfielder, the striker we can't say because we are still in negotiations, while the defender will be in for a medical tomorrow (Friday).

“I am bearing up well, when you can get your key players back on the pitch, when you get bids accepted, when you know there are medicals in place, when you see things coming together, then you are going to have a smile on your face because you know what type of squad you are going to have.

“I can reassure the fans we have three players in already, and I think we will have another four players in before the window closes. It will certainly be three but it could well be four. So seven new faces in one transfer window and that has been good.”

Vukcevic, 25, has starred in Montenegro’s rise to second place in England’s Euro 2012 qualifying group and has the ability to play on either flank, as an attacking midfielder or as a second striker.

Greek-American John, 24, has played for FC Dallas since turning professional two years ago and has been close to an international call-up for both countries after a string of dominating performances.

Ibisevic has been tracked by Tottenham, Aston Villa and West Brom in the past and, with eight goals in 34 games for Bosnia and Herzegovina to his name, could be available for in the region of £6million.

The Lancashire Telegraph also understand Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury is on Kean’s radar, along with potential loan moves for Liverpool’s Danny Wilson and Manchester City’s Dedryk Boyata.

Kean said: “The three players we are hoping to sign are all permanent and the fourth would be permanent as well. We are keeping our loans for last minute stuff.”

Meanwhile Kean confirmed he was very confident of securing winger Junior Hoilett on a very long term deal imminently and suggested he could fly to Toronto this weekend for talks with his dad to seal the deal.
