Audley ‘A’ once again dominated the Blackburn Primary Schools Chess League to make it three titles in a row.

So strong was the Audley teams that no fewer than five Audley players represented Lancashire at under 9s and under11s level.

Lammack and Feniscowles were deserved equal second having only lost one game each, to Audley ‘A’, and drawing with each other and Audley ‘B’.

Newcomers to the league, St Marys, began well with a win over Wensley Fold and a draw with early favourites, Holy Souls, but they could not match the experience of Audley, Lammack or Feniscowles.

Holy Souls began well but heavy 5-1 defeats to both Audley ‘A’ and Lammack dashed any hopes they had of getting the title for themselves.
