TWO fighters from East Lancs Predators Mixed Martial Arts Club have been crowned British champion.

Kris Leeson underlined his potential as one of the brightest prospects in UK MMA when he was crowned British ‘controlled aggression’ youth champion.

Leeson easily won on points to stretch his unbeaten record to nine fights.

And Steve Brunt was also crowned British amateur champion on an exciting night of action at the Hub in Bacup.

Coach Rob Freedman was full of praise of his two fighters.

He said: “Kris trains extremely hard and is fast becoming one of the best young prospects in the UK.

“We are producing some excellent fighters at the club and are getting a reputation for producing well rounded mixed martial artists.”

Also in action on the night were Luke Hall and the 18-year-old impressed on his debut, stopping his opponent in the first round.

Gordan Haig was made to work harder for his win, the fight going to the distance before he got the judges decision.

Meanwhile, Freedman made an explosive start to his professional MMA career, stopping his opponeent within 30 seconds at King George’s hall.
