DANNY Ings is ready to show his Championship quality and prove he is not a risky buy.

The 19-year-old is the latest player to follow in manager Eddie Howe’s footsteps and join Burnley from Bournemouth, after agreeing a four-year deal.

He has described his transfer as “massive” but insisted: “I am ready for the step up.”

Although Ings has only just entered his second season as a professional, he attracted attention from clubs including Liverpool and Newcastle over the summer after scoring eight goals in his debut senior campaign, while Fulham and Crystal Palace had offers rejected by Bournemouth.

But Ings admitted he jumped at the chance of a reunion with Howe and assistant manager Jason Tindall at Turf Moor.

“It’s good to be here and I just can’t wait to play and work with the strikers here,” said the teenager, who has boosted Burnley’s attacking options, with Jay Rodriguez, Charlie Austin and Alex MacDonald vying for a spot.

Wes Fletcher has joined neighbours Accrington Stanley on loan.

“There are great strikers at Bournemouth but this is another level above.

"Like any other footballer, you want to play to the highest level you can.

"When an opportunity like this comes up, it’s hard to turn down.

“People would argue against it and say that it wasn't the right time but who knows?

"It is the risk that I had to take and I think I am ready.”
