A Lawrance Hunter goal on 34 minutes gave Wakefield a deserved three points as they beat disappointing Clitheroe in the opening game of the season at Shawbridge.
Wakefield dominated the game from start to finish, creating several chances with Jan Zolna in the Wakefield goal having a quiet afternoon as Clitheroe stuttered.
