CRYSTAL Palace manager Dougie Freedman admitted that he was delighted with his side’s performance as they beat Burnley on Saturday – and believes his Eagles were full value for the three points at Selhurst Park.

While opposite number Eddie Howe, who was linked with the Selhurst Park job before opting to join Burnley from Bournmouth, was left the rue the Clarets disappointing showing, Freedman was a happy man.

The Scot said: “That display merited a win.

“We started the game on the front foot and tried to make it difficult for Burnley to play football.

“I felt all the players were good, it was a good team performance.

We have some great individual players at this club but we also have a team ethic that allows us to show that brilliance.

“The team as a whole worked well together and pressed together.

“We had a good tempo and deserved to win the game.

“We do have a lot of injuries but I don’t want to make excuses.

"It was good for the players who came in because this was a team effort. That is what gets you success.

“This club produces a lot of good players but we have to all buy into what we are trying to achieve as a team.

“There are many individuals at this club that can do indivudal bits of brilliance but I’m trying to stress to them the need for teamwork and a work ethic that will produce opportunities to show that little bit of brilliance.

“I’m sure most of you will pick out individuals but the key to it is the team as the whole working well together, pressing well together.

Freedman was particularly happy with the the tempo his side maintained and added: “The first goal was a good move that came from pressing the ball.

“We used the ball well and created opportunities throughout the game.

“It was good for Jonathan Parr to make his home debut and get a goal.

"I thought he performed very well, as did most of them.

“It was a good day.”
