DAVID Edgar says the Burnley squad still have their sights set on promotion despite a poor start to the new campaign.

Edgar, handed a rare start in a midfield holding role at Selhurst Park on Saturday, admits he was sad to see key defender Danny Fox leave for Southampton last week.

But he retains the ambition that Burnley can return to the top flight this season.

“For sure, that’s the main aim,” said the Canadian.

“We want to win every game and we want to get back into the Premier League. That’s the aim for the squad.

“Obviously Danny did fantastic for us and it’s a shame to lose him.

“It’s difficult, football’s like that, players come and go. But we’ve just got to go from here.

“We’ve got a good squad and we’ve got players who can play everywhere.

“We’ve got the faith in the gaffer and the squad we’ve got here so whatever happens outside of that, we’ve just got to get our heads down."
