MARTIN Olsson has warned Premier League defences ‘watch us fire this season’ - but insists a new look Rovers won’t forget the ugly side of the game.

Rovers’ Swedish international admits he can’t wait for the big kick off against Wolves at Ewood Park on Saturday and is adamant goals won’t be a problem this time around.

A lack of a prolific goal scorer at Ewood Park has proved costly over the last couple of seasons but, with David Goodwillie now on board and Ruben Rochina and Mauro Formica expected to feature, Olsson insists there is no lack of fire power.

Rovers remain in pursuit of one more striker before the transfer window closes at the end of August, with Benjani expected to turn down an offer of a new deal, and Olsson is excited by how the squad is shaping up.

He said: “We have a lot more threat attacking wise. We have Formica and Rochina who have shown great ability on the ball, we have Jason Roberts who has been on fire, have just brought in Goodwillie and obviously still have Junior.

“We have players all over the pitch who can chip in and I think it is looking very positive. We just need to put that into the Premier League.”

Rovers’ new attacking philosophy imposed by Steve Kean in the second half of last season left them struggling to get the balance right as they ended up fighting up against relegation.

But Olsson believes an encouraging end to the campaign, including a final day 3-2 win at Wolves, was a sign of things to come as they look to put last season’s troubles behind them.

“In the first half against Wolves last season we played unbelievably well and we rolled the ball about well as well,” he said.

“But it was not just those games, we played well in the last few matches and we want to carry on where we left off.

“That is a sign of how we are trying to play. Some times it won’t work though.

"We know there will be times where we can’t play the nice football and we have to be ready to play the ugly football.

"It is important to pick up the points any way we can and to make sure we have a better season than last year.

“We have to do the ugly side and we are working on that. It is about sticking together that is the mist important thing.

"I can’t wait for it all to start and I even feel the nerves right now,.

"In a good way, though. I am just looking forward like we all are.

“No one likes the pressure we were under last season and no one likes to lose that much.

"It will make us stronger mentality and we have learnt from it for next time.

"Those things can only make you stronger.”
