AFC Darwen slumped to a heavy defeat in their opening North West Counties First Division clash at the Anchor Ground.
Kenny Langford’s men were goalless at the break.
But an own goal on 47 minutes gave Ashton the lead, before James Rushton-Woods added a brace with goals on 49 and 65 minutes.
Paul Cliff added a late fourth.
