Padiham’s North West Counties Premier Division fixture proved to be a tough opener to the new season.
Trailing to a 13th minute Graeme Mitchell opener, the Storks had to withstanding some early pressure from the home side, before equalising on 13 minutes when Jordan Hulme converted a penalty given for handball.
Runcorn regained the lead on 36 minutes when Ryan Malone’s pace allowed him to break down the right before crossing for James McShane to convert.
Padiham started the second half brightly and secured a point with a 52nd minute Chris Ridehalgh equaliser.
n The Storks are at home to AFC Blackpool on Wednesday at the Arbories, 7.45pm kick-off.
