NELSON’S return to the North West Counties League started in dreadful fashion on Saturday as they were crushed by Irlam on an opening day they will want to forget.
Just two goals down at the break, Nelson conceded seven in the second half, including a Lee McNally hat-trick.
Jerrome Matthews was the lone goalscorer for the Blues.
