BARNOLDSWICK Town enjoyed a winning start to the campaign after coming back from behind against their Manchester visitors.
Both teams enjoyed good chances in the first half, but the deadlock was not broken until the hour mark, with Maine Road taking the lead.
A cross from the right found Eddie Moran at the far post and he easily scored with a fierce shot past Billy Carrington.
Barlick equalised after 73 minutes when Neil Chapman fed Carl Ellerton, who lobbed the advancing keeper into the far corner.
Maine Road were reduced to 10 men later on, but the game had a draw written all over it until the 90th minute, Chapman scoring with a 30-yard effort.
