BURNLEY boss Eddie Howe has said speculation about Southampton's interest in Jay Rodriguez is 'not ideal'.
A national newspaper reported that the Saints had made a joint £4m bid for the Burnley-born star plus left-back Danny Fox.
Although I understand the newly-promoted Saints are interested in the pair, an official approach has not yet been made.
Last night Southampton sold teenage winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for around £12m, which would free up cash for Nigel Adkins to strengthen his squad.
But I understand Howe would put up a stern fight to keep hold of both players – specifically Rodriguez given the current striker situation at Turf Moor.
“I don't know anything about it,” said Howe.
Of the speculation, he added: “It's not ideal.”
