Blackburn Rovers owners Venky’s have again insisted they are not chasing ‘big-name signings’ this summer as they vow to fund Steve Kean's efforts in the transfer market.

As revealed in the Lancashire Telegraph yesterday, Rovers are closing in on the signing of Monaco defender Cedric Mongongo, with a striker and a midfielder also wanted.

Co-owner Balaji Rao, said: “I am not into any name game. I want to concentrate on the proper game and get ahead.

"We are buying one or two strikers and a few midfielders.”

“We have to pump in money if we have to buy players. But I can’t disclose the amount.

"The money that came out from Phil Jones' transfer is also there for the club and will be used in the transfers.”

Rao also said he expected his 17-year-old son to join Rovers’ board once he turned 21.
