Blackburn Rovers will become the first Premier League team to tour India when they travel to Pune later this month.
Steve Kean’s squad will spend a few days withVenky’s to mark the end of a four-city junior tournament that will be held throughout this month.
Rovers are yet to finalise the details of the trip but are expected to travel on July 21 and will spend time in India before moving on to Hong Kong to compete in the Premier League trophy.
Reports from India suggest Rovers scouts will choose two young Indian players from the tournament to attend two weeks of training at the club’s academy in England.
Rovers’ co owner Balaji Rao, said: “I want to build a big fan base for Blackburn Rovers in India.
“Within one-and-a-half years we are coming up with an academy and a stadium in Pune.
"It will be known as Blackburn Academy Pune.”
