CHRIS McCann believes Burnley will move in the right direction under Eddie Howe.

The Clarets boss was on top of the midfielder’s contract negotiations throughout the summer, and left a good impression about his vision for the club to overcome a disappointing end to last season when Burnley finished short of the play-off pack.

And McCann has similarly been pleased to see Howe’s desire to improve training facilities at the club.

The new gym at Turf Moor, located in the old leisure centre, is particularly impressive, while a new 3G pitch is to be installed on the ground floor.

“With the new gym you can see the difference here (at Turf Moor),” said McCann.

“With the redevelopment of the training ground, that’s a big influence as well.

“All around it’s improving and I think the gaffer has a big hand in that.”

Meanwhile, as Howe looks for a new skipper following Graham Alexander’s departure, McCann admitted he would love to wear the armband again after leading the side out as captain in the final game of last season.

“Hopefully that won’t be the first and only time,” said Dubliner, who turns 24 later this month.

“We’ll see what happens. I’m just happy to be back playing football and have my future sorted out.

“If it comes, that’s a bonus.”
