JOE Jacobson hopes his future will be resolved in the next few days – with the defender not yet closing on the door on the offer of a new deal at Accrington Stanley.

Shrewsbury have been heavily linked with an interest in the 24-year-old, who can leave Stanley on a free transfer this summer under the terms of the Bosman ruling.

But Jacobson says he does not yet know where he will be playing his football next season, although he expects his future to be finalised shortly.

Stanley are due to link up for the first day of training on June 29, even though only Ian Craney is currently the only member of the squad with a confirmed contract.

Jacobson was one of a whole host of players offered new deals at the end of the season but John Coleman has admitted that the Reds may struggle to compete with the salary he has been told the left back has been offered elsewhere.

The player, though, confirmed he has not decided to leave at this stage.

“Not at all,” said Jacobson. “If I knew I was staying or going I would say but I don’t know at the moment.

“I think it’s the same for a lot of the lads.

“But hopefully in the next couple of days I will know more because pre-season training starts soon.”

Ray Putterill is one player who has not yet been offered a contract and the midfielder has been included on the PFA’s transfer list as he assesses his options.

Stanley want the 22-year-old to prove his fitness during pre-season training before considering a deal.
