BLACKBURN Rovers target Sebastian Larsson is expected to sign for Sunderland next week, according to the player’s father.

The Swedish international has been in Rovers’ sights for some time, with Steve Kean attempting to secure a deal in January, and the Blackburn boss had been weighing up whether to pursue an interest this summer.

Arsenal and Newcastle have also been among those linked with a move for the 26-year-old midfielder, who recently left Birmingham at the end of his contract, but Larsson’s father has told the Swedish media that his son will join Sunderland providing the length of his contract can be finalised.

“They want a little longer and we want less, but I think there will be no problems,” said Svante Larsson.
