LOWERHOUSE shot to the top of the Lancashire League in Sunday as they beat Colne while Ramsbottom were rocked by derby defeat at Haslingden.

The league’s form team made it six wins on the spin – but failed to claim bonus points after restricting Colne to 98-9 with Jonathan Finch claiming four wickets.

Lowerhouse were in trouble at 0-2 as Colne went gunning for revenge for their Worsley Cup loss 24 hours earlier but Joe Martin made an unbeaten 50 and Francois Haasbroek, who had claimed three wickets, hit 41 not out.

That win put the House top of the pile after Ramsbottom were beaten at Bentgate in a 33-over match.

Shanan Stewart and Jamie Pilling both made 25 as Rammy posted 128-6 but that wasn’t enough as Phill Hayes hit 32 to lead the way home.

Accrington claimed the derby bragging rights after stunning Church in a thriller at Thorneyholme Road.

Saeed Anwar hit 75 before being run out as Church took first knock on a damp day and posted 139-6 from their reduced 43 overs.

Accrington were soon in trouble and rocking at 10-3 with free-scoring professional Ashar Zaidi one of the men to go.

But Graham Lloyd made an excellent 34 only to fall leaving the score 71-6 and it seemed as though Church would go on to win.

Graham Seddon (28) took Accrington over the 100 mark but when Jimmy Hayhurst went for 22 it was 126-8 and nervy.

Marley Ali made 11 but was out with the scores level and Matthew Schofield held his nerve to score the winning single.

Todmorden are third after crushing Enfield as James Morgan took 5-19 to bowl the visitors out for just 68. Tod got home by eight wickets as Andy Sutcliffe maintained his 100 per cent record as skipper.

Nelson are well over their slow start to the campaign and beat Burnley by 20 runs at Seedhill. The game was reduced to 32 overs and Nelson posted 150-4 with David Crotty hitting 40.

Rawtenstall won at Bacup, getting home by 67 runs after sub-pro Brett Pelser hit 72 in their 175-8.

Luke Woodcock then claimed 6-49 as Burnley were restricted to 130-8.

East Lancs got over their Worsley Cup heartache at bottom club Rishton.

David Pearson made 80 and Ockert Erasmus hit 56 as East Lancs posted 220-5 before Rishton closed on 167-7 with Craig Smith 56 not out.
